Linus Torvalds Graphic T-Shirt – Premium Soft Cotton Tee.

The quote printed on the t-shirt in the video is attributed to Linus Torvalds (the creator of Linux).

Here is the intended quote:

"I am convinced that computer science has a lot in common with physics. Both deal with how the world works at a fairly fundamental level. The difference, of course, is that while in physics you have to understand how the world is made, in computer science you build the world. You are the creator."

Meaning & Context

The quote contrasts physics with computer science:

Physics is analytical: it seeks to discover, observe, and understand the laws and structure of the natural world that already exists.

Computer Science is synthetic/constructive: rather than just studying existing rules, programmers define the rules, systems, and digital environments from scratch.

In short, while physicists study the universe, computer scientists create their own virtual universes.

Ever feel like you can't get published?

>Female authored studies are more likely to be rejected from scientific journals despite having comparable or even better writing quality.
>“Friendship bonus” in peer review is a real thing.
> Most faculty believe that grad students ‘can’t write’. Yet, most grad students, especially in STEM, don’t receive education/instruction on academic writing.
