Small rituals we follow before and after our weekly stitching together. These are also reminders of age-old textile practices around the world. Every maker has their own ways to set up the space, take small pauses, and wind up at the end of the day. It brings all of us into this making space. While doing so, each one of us helps to set up and decide which colour they want to start the embroidery with.
Later, slowly, each corner of the stitching panel comes together cohesively over many gatherings. It feels like it was designed in a certain way. Beauty is in those every gatherings and small collective decisions we all create.
Share in the comments what rituals you follow for your work to get started. 🌿

Art and artists I met in 2026.
Montreal, Canada. ✨

This was the spotlight event and one of my final curations as part of the Concordia Public Scholars Program (2025–26).

One of the greatest joys of this journey was bringing together the friends, artists, makers, and community I have had the privilege to build throughout my PhD. Seeing everyone gather in one space to share, create, and celebrate made this event truly special.

I am deeply grateful for the love, generosity, and joy that surrounded this program. Here’s to the friendships we built during my Public Scholar journey, and to the many more collaborations and connections that will continue beyond it. ❤️
