And just like that, another movie is made!! Words can’t quite describe how much of a spiritual experience it was shooting BARB with my friends and family in the most special place in the world. I will never get tired of this type of filmmaking. Thank you to this crew!

So… it’s been a year since we finished Beyond the Field of Grass, and our festival journey has officially come to an end.

I made this film while I was in grad school, shooting it in a single day on basically no budget. At the time I was constantly working as a cinematographer, but I had this overwhelming need to tell a story of my own. Experimental film has always been the reason I fell in love with filmmaking, and this project became my way of exploring memory, longing, and the emotional spaces that exist beyond traditional narrative.

I’ve always been drawn to POV, layered imagery, and stream-of-consciousness storytelling. With Beyond the Field of Grass, I wanted to explore what it feels like to be inside the mind of someone slowly losing their memory while desperately reaching for a warm, familiar place they can never truly return to.

This film wouldn’t exist without such an incredible team. Thank you to Fernando, Karan, Lígia, Jonathan, and Rubens for believing in this project and bringing so much heart, talent, and care to every part of it. And thank you to everyone who encouraged me to take the leap into writing and directing.

I’m so proud of what we created together, and I’m excited that Beyond the Field of Grass is finally out in the world.

I post a lot of my work on here, but realized I’ve never posted ABOUT my work. I love my job. I’m so grateful everyday that I get the opportunity to do what I’ve loved to do since I was a kid as a job in my adult life.

Working freelance in the camera department full time is not easy, not by a long shot. However, everyday I’m on set with people I love makes it worth it. 2025 has been a long and strange year, full of overtime days and long months stringing together odd projects, but I wanted to take a moment and say how thankful I am that this is what I get to do :)

And also a massive thank you to all of the BTS photographers and 2nd ACs that have taken some of these silly and beautiful photos this year 🧡

As 2025 comes to a close, so too does a journey that began 17 years ago. When I was ten years old, I knew I’d attend @usccinema. If you asked me when I was younger why I wanted to go to USC, the answer was always so simple: “that’s where George Lucas went!”

And while that reasoning rang true for many years, other factors came to light, such as:

The esteemed and truly phenomenal faculty that bend over backward to usher and support the next generation of filmmakers…

The Accomplished history of this institution, and its role as a stepping stone for the goliaths of our industry…

And most of all the people I would be learning, growing, and laughing along with over the course of 3, genuinely challenging years.

From my first assignment (a 30 second self-introduction) to the screening of my final film ( @cluckysfilm ), I have so throughly enjoyed every inch of this experience and it would have been absolutely nothing without the incredible friendships I have come to cherish so deeply.

Friends that I would move heaven and earth for.

Friends that have taught me about life, morality, and the bonds of chosen family. At this years end, I toast my Trojan family, and thank them all for being so fucking awesome.

I also thank my literal family. My father @lplonglegs and my mother @therealriaria broke their backs to get me where I am today, and not a single one of my accomplishments would have been possible without their constant effort to raise me up and teach me how to work hard and chase my dreams.

So as we leave behind this year of uncertainty, stress, and worry, I say this: look forward to this next chapter of our story with optimism, and remember that if we stick together, fight for one another, and hold on to the good in this world, the stress, the worry and that chilling uncertainty will not only be bearable, but beatable.

I have completed my Film & Television Production MFA at The University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, and I’m so ready for what comes next.

It has not been an easy year. It’s had its ups and downs and I’ve been exhausted for most of it. But that just means next year will be bigger and better than ever. The only consistent I’ve had is my friends and my amazing wife. I couldn’t have asked for a better support system and I’m so glad I have them by my side as we move forward into 2026. This is the year I fly.
