Welcome to Bourbon & Boards Ep. 19

This is the series where I share a song from my bourbon playlist while finishing a board.

I missed last week because I was out of town so were coming back strong with a song I’ve had on repeat since I added it.

Song - ‘Misty Mountain High’ by @ferestermusic

We were just in Colorado, and this song was perfect in the mountains and with a strong pour! 🥃

Another week down, hope to see some of you at the market tomorrow, cheers!

Welcome @ferestermusic !

Ferester is the moniker of Scottish-American folk artist Spencer O’Grady. Hailing from the sleepy town of Chapel of Garioch nestled in the Scottish hills, where snow-capped peaks carry birdsong in a magically serene synthesis of peace and nature, Ferester’s self-produced folk-pop anthems transport the listener to a similarly infused world of euphoric colour and emotion. His lyrics paint pictures of life in all its facets, whether it be heartache happiness or the bittersweetness of fleeting moments.

I LOVE with how this white hoodie turned out! 🤍 I sublimated a design all the way across the back & shoulders, and then layered rhinestones directly over it for that ultimate sparkle and shine.

The background music is by @ferestermusic —I’ve been enjoying his music while crafting recently! 😀

This was a new process/technique for me to mix sublimation and rhinestones. Here are the steps, and a lesson learned:

1️⃣ Design & Print: Set up the design/ graphics and cut the rhinestone template. I use Shilloutte Studio to print my sublimation and Cricut to cut my material. For this I split the name, my printer only prints up to 8.5x14. I split the template as well because I didn't want to get my 24 inch mat out. Lol

2️⃣ Pre-Press: Give the polyester blank a quick press to get out moisture. I also normally do a press where I fold the blank in half to get my half way mark as well.

3️⃣ Sublimation Ink: Place the design wrap and tape the heck out of it! 😉 Since this was a 20 inch design, I didnt want to risk it moving so I kept it on cardboard which worked well! I did put butcher paper under just incase the ink transferred. (It didn't)

4️⃣ The Bling: Brush your hotfix rhinestones into the template tray and pull them up with transfer tape. Place them perfectly over the design.

5️⃣ The Final Press: You don't need tape for the rhinestone transfer sheet here, but you DO need clean butcher paper covering the entire sublimation area so ink doesn't bleed onto your heat press platen!

💥 Lesson Learned: Keep an eye on your heat transfer tape placement over your printed graphics—it will pull up some of your sub ink if you aren't careful! 📝👀

If you want a custom design a just drop a comment or send me a direct message to make a plan! 💬👇

Let's focus on being kind humans tomorrow. And reminder, being a kind dinacorn is an option as well—fierce, magical, and above it all! 🦖🦄
