@fergsbk opened about a month ago, and I finally made it in for dinner tonight. I loved it so much.

On the corner of Lorimer and Bayard, it’s a cozy neighborhood restaurant serving Southern comfort food. The warm, intimate interior makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. The menu has plenty to explore, from spare ribs and hot chicken biscuits to catfish and shrimp and grits. The cocktails are worth a mention too, the Corn Martini is made with corn-infused vodka, and there’s a whole moonshine list. Save room for dessert: warm peach cobbler and banana pudding are both on the menu.

Brooklyn has officially found its new excuse to eat something fried, order a cocktail, and stay awhile.

Ferguson’s Country (@fergsbk), affectionately known as Ferg’s, has opened at 732 Lorimer Street in Williamsburg, right across from McCarren Park. The Southern-inspired restaurant comes from co-owners Scott Ferguson and Gabriella Mann, and it is bringing a little Alabama warmth to North Brooklyn. Link in bio for more.

Ferguson’s Country, which you can call Ferg’s, no one can stop you, just opened across from McCarren Park on Bayard and oh man is this some first-rate Southern Comfort food and vibes. Co-owner Scott Ferguson grew up with this stuff in Alabama, co-owner Gabriella Mann knows her shit from years of running BABA, and this place is a total casual, eat some ribs and pimento cheese and fried shrimps and okra and chicken biscuit and knock back some literal moonshine, winner. I dredged my ribs through my cheesy grits while packs of alarmingly fit young run-club types hustled by and have no regrets. Plus: actual .45-playing jukebox! Worked every day this weekend, but spent it doing what I love: feeding people.

Friday, cooked Rosh Hashanah dinner for 35 (one of my fave longtime clients)

Saturday, cooked another Rosh Hashanah dinner for 15, then checked out @fergsbk for dinner on their opening night. Delish.

Sunday, spent the day at Cherry Bombe House serving up my spicy rigatoni alla vodka. It was wonderful meeting all of you guys 🥹, thank you for coming out to support. Finished off the day with tacos and soft serve with my pals. Cheers to the freakin’ weekend.
