I apparently missed the “ladies’ night” memo because we were 11 women strong tonight. And our two male attendees made us an awesome 13!

The sun was a paid actor in the photo! So grateful it wasn’t as hot or as humid as it has been.

Amazing work out there, y’all! We had one person doing crazy hill repeats up “Gabe’s Dumb Hill”, others tackling the full course for the first time or the first time in a long time, some coming back after a short absence from the running world, and then groups running their own miles at their own pace.

We’d love for you to join us next week as we celebrate Stephanie’s 36th rotation around the sun! It’s a Y2K themed 5K. There will be medals and goodies. Come out and have a good time on our hills!

Every week, during the hottest months, I’m always impressed watching so many people stroll in knowing full well they’ve signed up to fight the heat, hills(all of them, and there are a lot), humidity, and a snake guarding the ever so popular popsicles. Wait, that last one was new today. And thankfully, Loki allowed us all our cold treat at the end. We ALL needed that frigid, delicious sugar boost to revive us.

The water/ice drop is always a great pit stop. Shoving ice in various places on your body is a great way to cool off. It makes a huge difference if you’re over heating. Ice-cold titties for the win, y’all. Try it and thank me later. 😂

Eventually these summer temps will start to drop. Our fall paces are going to be glorious! At least that’s what I keep telling myself.

FYI, 8/5 is Stephanie’s Y2K 5K at run club to celebrate her birthday. There will be treats and medals. Come join us and celebrate! Dress up in anything Y2K if you so desire.

Next week -7/23 - @funroerunclub turns 2! Hope to see you all there.

Anyone of us could have chosen to stay home in the cool confines of our glorious AC, but we’re all a bit special and decided that running hills in July was a much better idea. All this slogging through these temps will definitely pay off this fall. It will be nice to feel fast again. Join us next week for more hills, humidity, and good time with your fellow crazy runner friends!

There’s still time to join us Saturday at the Streetlight 5K and Frolic in Concord at 7 PM. It’s $20. You can’t say no to a $20 5K, unless of course your name is Nick. Grr. Grumble. Grumble. 🤪

Happy Global Running Day! Thank so much for coming out to run and celebrate the day with us. We couldn’t have asked for better weather in June. It could be SO MUCH hotter.

We handed out some tokens for 5th and 10th visits. That’s always exciting. We are on track to have our 100th Wednesday run on December 9th. So be sure to mark your calendar, even though it’s half a year away. 🤣

Prom Night is approaching. You have until June 17 to find your dress or formal attire and maybe a run date. I personally can’t wait to see people look at us like we’ve lost our minds, and honestly, we probably have. 😂😂

We have some other run club birthdays coming up soon.

@ballantynerunningclub turns 9 on June 25.
@funroerunclub turns 2 on July 23.

Follow them on socials to see how they will be celebrating.

Our birthday is November 25, if you were wondering. Yes, the day before Thanksgiving. Yeah, I know…summer birthdays are better, but we can’t help when we were born. 🤪

Until next week: Don’t Get Dead ☠️, Stay Vertical, and Have Fun!

Look at our crowd! Really glad I shoved as many popsicles as I did in the cooler. 😂 people really love those things. Haha. We had two new faces tonight! Thanks so much for joining us.

Some of us had to take an alternate 10K route tonight because some of our roads are being resurfaced. But that just gave us the opportunity to venture out and find and see some new sights - including a whole bunch of kids playing cricket. That was a first for me.

Remember to mark your calendar for June 17 for Prom Night and to get wooed by the Charlotte Marathon ambassadors.

Strap in y’all, summer is checking in next week. Say hello to the 90s. 🥵 Hydrate or dydrate!!

I was pretty sure the threat of rain would keep people away, a huge crowd of hill slayers showed up and showed out! Great work out there y’all!

Happiest of birthdays to Mizu! (The pup to the right.)

See ya next week for more hills and miles and fun and all the popsicles!

Also, you might get lucky and see one of our resident black squirrels!

It was a delightful evening for a run for these folks! Hills bring us joy and some cuss words each and every week.

Had two new souls join us, one all the way from Asheville! Thank you for coming out. We loved having you.

Hope to see even more smiling faces next week. Remember, it’s popsicle season. It’s a great treat after a workout on all those hills. I literally think about mine the entire run. 🤣

Tagging @tommy_rivs in spirit. For this #runclub exists because of him.

Whoa! We had a massive group tonight! Many thanks to @waxhawrunclub for coming out to visit us and running our hills. Hope you can come back and tackle the whole course soon.

John O’Hara extraordinaire graced us with his presence after a marvelous Boston Marathon on Monday. We didn’t make him run any more hills after he fought Heartbreak Hill at mile 20. He deserved a rest. He even let Ash wear his medal! 🥇 😊

See y’all next week for more hills and popsicle rewards!

Tagging @tommy_rivs because he’s there every week in spirit whether he knows it or not. 😁

Was it warm? Yes. Was it humid? Yes. Were there hills? Yes, all of them. Did that deter any of these fine people from showing up to run? Absolutely not! Way to go, guys!

Congrats to Nick on his 50th visit!

Best of luck to all who are tackling Race Fest this weekend! Have fun and Don’t Get Dead!
