after donnie darko, jake gyllenhaal intentionally avoided the traditional “leading man” path… instead building his career around psychologically complex roles that others actors were unwilling to take.

for many of his performances, he fully committed to each character through intense training and major physical transformations in an effort to “push his artistic limits” and “explore the human condition.”

after spending much of his life intensely devoted to acting, gyllenhaal told british vogue: “i’ve seen how much of my life i’ve neglected as a result of being committed to that work and that idea. now i’ve turned to my family, i’ve turned to my friends and i’ve turned to love.”

September, September, September... what a ride you have been, man. I just want to start off this post by giving glory to God; I don't think I'd be where I am right now if it weren't for his grace and guidance, keeping me on the right path though it all.

Secondly, I'd like to shine a light on my family and their wisdom that they have bestowed upon me when I needed it most... and there were definitely times when I needed it most this month. Seeing you all this weekend was definitely a highlight of the month, and I can not wait to see y'all in November.

And lastly, my friends... whether you are here at CSU, back at home, in Georgia, or even outside of the state... thank you for just existing and being there for me whenever you could. This month was an emotional rollercoaster, and while everything is low and chill as of now, who knows what could happen in a week, a day... even in minutes. I haven't been able to hang out with most of you due to unfortunate circumstances, but you all are doing amazing things, and I can't wait to support you all in due time because y'all deserve it.

I don't know what will happen in October, but I know that I will continue to have these three elements in my life and remain thankful... Much love to you all, and I hope you all enjoyed this last day of September as much as I did.

Here's to October! 🧡

P.S. Mom and Dad... I did not write that sticker. A great friend of mine did 😊
