POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I don’t know why it took me so long to write this about @fern_presents . I guess I needed to let it all sink in.

Bringing my love of music, art, and nature together feels like something I’ve been working toward my whole life. FERN started as a feeling I carried home from the woods. Seeing people connect with it has been beautiful and a little hard to take in.

@serpentwithfeet , thank you for trusting us with this first chapter and bringing your whole self to it. From church to family, I’ve appreciated every chat. @iamwhitneyross , you were our rock. I’ll endlessly thank you for your resolve, laughter, and Negronis lol.

@miketyus , thank you for taking the vision somewhere new. @kasey_lum , for your care and every text you answered. @matthewkoropatwa , for believing before you could see what it would become. @gustavochams , @wurld2000k , @bosolaa , @arabaankuma , thank you for helping us tell this story properly. @faderfam , for believing in me and the project from our first chat.

To everyone who pulled a generator, made food, sewed a button, designed a mark, gave insight, responded to a text or helped in ways people may never see: thank you. I’m excited to see where we take this next.

And @naleisnaps , my partner in crime: thank you for your creative magic and for making room for this big idea in our life. I know what it asked of us. I will always rub your feet. 🌿

An offering of music for the natural world.

For new nature-based music platform @fern_presents, each live performance brings artists into unique landscapes, exploring the interplay between music and environment, making space for what emerges when we take the time to listen closely.

Filmed in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, the platform’s debut features R&B artist @serpentwithfeet performing his new single “Sentinel,” with the land's acoustics, elements, light, and movement becoming part of the composition.

Watch the full performance now at the link in our bio.

Took a minute to catch my breath.

And now, I merge the things I love the most: The sound of Black people. And the feel of nature. In this holy space my identities come together. I hear freedom, and time expands. I am forgiven and I have witness. Filmed in my backyard in Vancouver, Canada with my family by my side and at the helm, we created FERN.

I’ve not gotten my hands dirty like this in some time. But seeing this come to life felt like a vision I saw coming. Everything is writ, afterall.

Doing it with my heart exposed was the only way to create it. I was in awe of the simple complexities of people. We want to reflect, and nature is forever there to deepen and allow. I know it’s grace, and I am honoured to offer it to the world through music.

Welcome to the world FERN. Our new music platform fuses nature with music, becoming a collaborator and an invitation to listen differently.

To @serpentwithfeet - you are an angel. And the most loving of tricksters. I will care for you always. And @miketyus, you gorgous genius, collaborating with you was one of my greatest highlights.

@iamwhitneyross , there is nothing I want to do without you. @treblesoul, you mastermind, I love you deeply. Thank you for rubbing my feet every night.
