🎨 Design en main : le design sous toutes ses formes à Saint-Étienne !

Inaugurée le 10 juin 2026, la Galerie nationale du design ouvre ses portes avec une exposition réunissant près de 400 pièces issues des collections publiques.

De l’héritage industriel stéphanois aux créations contemporaines, Design en main. Du langage à l’objet explore comment les objets racontent nos sociétés, transmettent nos savoir-faire et réinventent notre quotidien.

📍 Un nouveau lieu culturel d’exception au cœur de la Cité du design, à découvrir jusqu’au 7 mars 2027 !

ماذا لو كان التصميم ينمو بالرعاية، لا بالابتكار وحده؟
على مدى خمسة عشر عامًا، تعاون فرناندو لابوسيه مع مجتمع توناويكستلا الريفي في المكسيك، مستكشفًا كيف يمكن للتصميم أن يتجذّر في الأرض، ويستمدّ ملامحه من موادها ومعارف أهلها.

في «زارع البذور»، تمتد هذه الرحلة من المكسيك إلى قطر، حيث يكشف اللؤلؤ والحرير وصبغة القرمز وبنك حيّ للبذور عن روابط بين الطبيعة والثقافة، وعن تاريخ من التبادل جمع بين أماكن ومجتمعات مختلفة.

المعرض من تنسيق ماريو باليستيروس، ويدعونا إلى النظر إلى التصميم، لا بوصفه نتاجًا نهائيًا، بل مسارًا نرعاه لينمو ويتطوّر مع الزمن.

What if design was something we cultivated, not simply created?
For fifteen years, Fernando Laposse has worked alongside the rural community of Tonahuixtla in Mexico, exploring what can emerge when design grows from the land, its materials and its people.

In The Sower, that journey extends from Mexico to Qatar. Pearls, silk, cochineal and a living seed bank reveal connections between landscapes, cultures and histories of exchange.

Curated by Mario Ballesteros, the exhibition invites us to see design not as a finished outcome, but as something nurtured over time.

Meet Young Climate Prize Cohort 03📣

With Queening Afrika, Janet Dete and Damaris Kuria, 25-year-old circular design entrepreneurs from Kenya, are transforming discarded synthetic hair into durable fibers for handbags, home goods and other products.

Dete and Kuria lead Queening Afrika’s collection, processing and production network, connecting salons and households with a digital system for recovering used synthetic hair. Their work turns an overlooked source of plastic waste into new materials while creating opportunities for women and young people in underserved communities.

Dete and Kuria will be mentored by Mexican designer Fernando Laposse, whose work uses natural materials and local craft traditions to explore biodiversity, livelihoods and cultural knowledge.🌍
