Polling released today shows three in four people support calls for a Good Food Bill!

Britain's food system is failing households, farmers and the economy. Legislation is urgently needed with legally-binding targets, ministerial accountability, and independent oversight to help fix food for good.

Our polling shows support for the bill comes from across the political spectrum. Food security is not a left or right issue - it's in the national interest.

Huge thanks to @nfu_mutual @esmeefairbairn & @chk.foundation for supporting us so we could deliver our first two events of the year 🙌

In April, we headed to London and Bristol to engage with urban food systems, continuing our theme of reconnecting town & country.

London 🌱 Stevie Back (Grower & Community Engagement) @sitopiafarm gave us a brilliant farm tour. We also heard from the brilliant Carolyn Steel, author of Sitopia: How Food Can Save the World. 81% of attendees left with more knowledge to manage land in a nature-friendly way. 75% discovered new opportunities in the sector.

Bristol 🐐 We walked with @streetgoatproject who are grazing and milking goats on city brownfield sites. We spent time with Alex @generation.soil who is growing a composting enterprise, and Ped Asgarian (@feeding.bristol) discussing what an equitable food system really looks like. 91% left feeling more connected. 67% felt confident to take their next step.

Thank you to every organiser, speaker and funder who helped turn passion into practice. 💚

More on our proposals for how governments can lead a response to the food crisis - this one triggered by the Iran War and climate changes, but coming with ever increasing frequency. We’re arguing that this is precisely the moment for governments to bring the same leadership to the food transition as the energy transition - protect the most vulnerable, target support and invest in a more secure and resilient future for food and farming, ‘bouncing forward’ to a future free from fossil fuel and climate triggered volatility. #food #farming #landuse #climate #resilience

We're so excited to announce that our new project Cereal Revisited is out now!

Six years on from the release of Cereal – our six-part investigative series uncovering the true cost of the commodity bread system whilst meeting the growing community of farmers, bakers, millers and activists coming together to build an alternative – where are we now?

In the new Cereal Revisited podcast, host Katie Revell (@_katierevell) explores the ripple effects of the original series and asks how the new grains movement has evolved in the years since. We hear from original contributors about how their thinking and priorities have shifted, alongside new voices – people who were inspired to redefine their work and lives after listening.

We return to Cereal to ask what has changed, and what still feels stuck? What kinds of structures, relationships, and resources are needed to take this work further? And how can grassroots storytelling help more of us to recognise our own role within the system that sustains us?

📍Listen to the new podcast episode in all the usual places, and check out the accompanying soundmap and report via the link in our bio!

Everyone's talking about school food!

Following the government's announcement of a new consultation to update school food standards, upcoming changes to school meals have been discussed extensively over the last week - from classrooms to kitchens to the news desk.

To help schools implement new and improved standards from September 2026, we've joined forces with five of the UK’s leading food and education charities - Chefs in Schools, School Food Matters, Jamie Oliver Group, and Bite Back to create the School Food Project. @schoolfood_project

We know better is possible and the School Food Project will be instrumental in helping to transform the food that will fuel futures.

Big changes to school meals hit the headlines this week so we're delighted to have an exclusive interview with Education Minister @obaileymp on this week's podcast!

She's responsible for school food and shares her vision for a better food environment in schools and how upcoming changes, including the expansion of Free School Meals and a consultation on food standards will work.

Putting the questions to her was our Executive Director Anna Taylor.

The episode follows the launch of the School Food Project, involving Chefs in Schools, Bite Back, School Food Matters, The Jamie Oliver Group and The Food Foundation who are working together with the aim of making school food across England a source of national pride.

Listen in full via The Food Foundation podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or wherever you find your pods.
