This might be the most exciting event Dilly Dally has done so far! We are kicking off Banned Book Week with a community event at the incredible Circus print shop!! Bring any shirt you want and get this incredibly whimsical and badass design printed on it for free! I will also be there selling frequently banned books and the proceeds will be donated to the @ffofapl for the Albany Public Library! Books should not be censored and if you agree, come hang with us Friday October 2nd!

Come with me to a scrapbooking and craft swap at the @albanynylibrary! I brought a few craft items that have been sitting for a few years and could use a new home, and I brought back so many goodies! I found new washi tape, stickers, magazines, an old book, some discarded artwork, and other curiosities. I love free community events like these because it gives folks an opportunity to explore new hobbies in a low-cost, sustainable environment! Are there swaps like these in your area?

September was Library Card Sign Up Month 📚✨ but honestly, every month is a good one to celebrate libraries. They’re so much more than shelves of books.

Your library card can also unlock museum passes, fishing rods, bikes, cameras, and even people’s stories (yes, real local voices you can “check out”).

Libraries aren’t just places to visit. They’re places that help us live more connected, creative, and curious lives. They are third spaces that make life richer. They offer language classes, tax prep, tech help, and community events like reading programs, cake picnics, farmers markets, cultural performances, and, of course, book clubs. They spark creativity with watercolor painting, yoga, dance, music, storytelling, and so much more!

As a kid, libraries gave me an escape through books (and the occasional free pizza or ice cream). As a teen, they gave me a way to give back, help shape a new program, and build connections that led to a college reference letter. As an adult, they’ve given me chances to try new things, meet friends, and enjoy reading in every format. As a tax-paying citizen, I see them as one of the most tangible ways our contributions create a positive impact.

And yes, I "strongly encourage" people to sign up for library cards & take advantage of the many resources and programs whenever I can. 😜
