TRAINING ALONE. THE QUIET GRIND.
.
I’ve spent much of my life relying on myself. Growing up, boxing became my escape, my discipline, and a way to deal with emotions I didn’t know how to express.
.
Years later, boxing and strength training still give me that peace.
.
Lifting weights isn’t just about building muscle or getting stronger. It’s about discipline, longevity, and challenging myself physically and mentally.
.
But I’ve learned there’s a difference between being comfortable alone and isolating yourself.
.
I’m still healing, still growing, and still learning to let people in.
.
Some days I train for strength. Other days, for my mental health. Most days, it’s both.
.
Training alone doesn’t mean I have to go through life alone.
.
QUIET GRIND.

If there were a pill that protected your brain, strengthened your heart, lowered your risk of chronic disease, and supported your mental health, we’d call it one of the greatest breakthroughs in medicine.

This isn’t just exercise. This is medicine.

Movement is one of the most powerful, multi-targeted tools we have for health and longevity:

🧠Helps preserve cognitive function and brain health.
❤️Reduces the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic disease.
🧬Is associated with lower risk of several cancers—and can improve important outcomes for people living with and beyond cancer.
🙏Is an evidence-based tool in the prevention and treatment of anxiety and depression.

We’re not just training for aesthetics or fitness benchmarks. We’re building healthspan, functional capacity, and resilience that compound over a lifetime.

Let’s help patients build movement into their lives.

The takeaway? Don’t just add years to your life. Train for the years you’re adding. 💪

The Summer Throwdown @solacenewyork was the most inspiring way to spend a Saturday. To every person I got to witness kick ass and elevate themselves, thank you for inspiring me to continue being hungry for moments like this one. There is a fuck ton of community in this space and it’s palpable. @ycoolj you created something special.

I’m proud of myself and even more proud that I had a group of baddies who I got to compete beside and be able to learn so much from. Thank you to each coach, the judges who hyped me up when I wanted to stop and the people I got to sweat beside.

@irilikeu @huntmorrmore You are firecrackers and it was a pleasure to be a winner with you both. @c.lo_perez You know I love you and am so proud of you. @fftstrong you stayed with me through the toughest part and I appreciate you. @_roxie_jones_ thank you for your support and screams @trainwdrew You kept the energy high and smiles real @valgutu the music and grooves kept us moving

As scared as I was to enter this moment, I was even more scared to not see what I had in me. To all the insanely good humans I continue to meet, work with, train with and connect to, keep seeing what your untapped potential is capable of. Do all the things you imagine for yourself so that the fear realizes it’s not in the driver seat. I’m your biggest hype woman, trust me. Let’s climb together.

GLP-1s are bringing back 90s “heroin chic”—and as an oncologist, I’m watching an alarming trend unfold where exercise is completely left out of the prescription. 🛑

First, the clinical reality: GLP-1 receptor agonists are remarkable tools. Evolving evidence shows their ability to lower systemic inflammation, reduce cardiovascular risk, and manage major metabolic comorbidities.

The problem isn’t the medication—it’s prescribing them in a total lifestyle vacuum.

When patients lose weight rapidly without a structured prescription for resistance training and adequate protein, they don’t just lose fat—they lose critical lean muscle mass and bone density. Muscle is your metabolic armor.

More than that, a prescription pen can never replace what exercise does for human biology and mental health:
• The immediate endorphin surge and mood boost.
• Improved sleep architecture and stress resilience.
• Long-term cognitive protection and functional independence.
We don’t need a return to gaunt 90s thinness ideals. We need muscle, functional strength, and long-term healthspan.

GLP-1s belong in medicine, but they belong alongside strength.

Prescribe the medication when indicated. Prescribe the weight room always. Protect your muscle, your mind, and your vitality.💪

Training: @fftstrong 🙏
