SELC D2 Playoffs.

For some reason this conference always does their playoffs a week early so we will know who their AQ is and who their At-Large contenders are.

Game 1: @faumenslacrosse vs ksu_mlax
FAU should take this one easily. Kennesaw only made playoffs because there are only 3 teams on their side of the bracket. FAU with their win over GVSU, has a nationals ticket almost locked up barring a horrific loss here. They are playing for seeding now.
Game 2: @gsueagleslax vs @fgculacrosse
Georgia Southern is the favorite but I wouldn’t count out FGCU. Both teams have shown flaws so it really comes down to who shows up. FGCU will most likely need to win the conference for a nationals bid while Georgia Southern would most certainly be eliminated as well with a loss here.

Semi Finals:

@unflacrosse has had a great season vs very mid competition, so it’s hard to see where they really stand. FAU would probably be the “2 seed” favorite but it will be a great showing to see who’s legit out of the SELC. If North Florida wins this game they most likely will get an At Large bid regardless of the championship outcome.

@tampaclublacrosse was looking like a potential high seed after beating FAU early in the season, but a late season loss to Georgia Southern have people questioning this teams legitness. They might have a rematch vs Georgia Southern in the semi finals where the winner has a good chance at punching their ticket to Nationals.

All of these team technically still have a chance to win a national championship. And to be honest a few of these teams have realistic outs to making the national tournament.

1. @acu_mlax lost to UCSD by 1 last week and will get a rematch in the conference semi-finals at home. If ACU can beat UCSD and have another respectable game vs CSUSM they will be in the nationals At- Large bid conversation. If the stars align in other conferences they could squeak into nationals.

2. @49erlacrosse will have to go through their whole conference to get a bid but the ALC has proven to be shaky come playoff time… and anything can happen.

3. @fgculacrosse is playing in a conference where everyone has lost to someone else in the conference… if they catch any of these teams on a bad day they could pull off a huge upset.

MCLA D2 Rankings

MIMRINGS NOTES:

Not a ton to report this week but here is what did happen.

1. @yoteslacrosse beat @grizlax in double OT… an awesome top 5 game already looking like a teaser for a good PNCLL Championship game.

2. @fgculacrosse beat @umiamiwlax (men’s team blocked me?)… doesn’t change much in the rankings but I think either of these teams could be a trap game in the SELC playoffs.

3. The big story is @okstatelacrosse going to Colorado and beating @minesmenslax and @duclubmlax. Denver hasn’t won many games but has put up respectful fights vs top 20 teams. OSU might be dark horses to win the LSA over the favorites @ttumenslacrosse

4. @ucdlax whooped @chicostatemenslax solidifying that conference as the worse in the MCLA and I imagine UC Davis takes the 16 seed and plays St Thomas round 1.

MCLA D2 RANKINGS

MIMRINGS NOTES:

1. @gvsulax @faumenslacrosse and @ndsumensclublax had a fun 3some…. FAU went 2-0 with 2 close wins, GVSU lost by 1 to FAU then rolled NDSU. GVSU definitely needs to drop a lot lower than I had originally.

2. @ucdlax went down the road to San Diego and played the SLC…. They beat @usdmlax but lost to both @csusmlax and @ucsdlax. Not a whole lot surprising here but USD seemed to be a bit of a fluke team with their close games to UCSD and Michigan State. They then lost to @acu_mlax confirming they are just mid.

3. @tampaclublacrosse loses to @gsueagleslax. I think this just goes to show that the ALC and SELC are for the most part just really inconsistent teams who all beat eachother.

4. @msumenslax won the in state rivalry vs @grizlax. Both teams are locked as potential upset matches in nationals.

The BEST MCLA D2 Rankings!

MIMRINGS NOTES:

1. We finally saw the powerhouse @gvsulax play some games. After a tough loss to a weak Michigan State D1 team (who also beat USD by 1) I was considering dropping GVSU down a tier or 2, but with huge bounce back wins vs VT D2 and High Point, I’ve moved them back into the top tier just on the bottom of it. Will be interesting to see how they finish with a tough end of the season schedule.

2. @cmumenslacrosse I was trying to vouch for you, even had yall close to my top 20, but after losing to the same 2 team GVSU destroyed I am forced to removed yall from my top 30.

3. @csusmlax showed some struggle vs @acu_mlax. @yoteslacrosse blew ACU out of the water. I figure some of this is because it’s an in conference rivalry but still have to move the Yotes up above the Cougs.

4. @ndsumensclublax still struggling with their very tough schedule. @grizlax are serious contenders to moving up a tier for me if they can handle business vs their in state rivals @msumenslax next week.

5. @faumenslacrosse squeaks out a close one vs @umiamilax … I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. These ALC and SELC team all seem to play each other very close for the most part. This just dropps the top SELC teams down a couple spots for me, and brings the bottom SELC teams up a tad.

BONUS NOTE: @stthomasmenslacrosse is in their own tier until I see otherwise… they haven’t even blinked vs anyone yet, with controlling wins vs multiple National tournament level teams.

MCLA D2 Tier list!

Not a whole lot to report this week.

MIMRINGS NOTES:

1. @stthomasmenslacrosse smacked @grizlax … makes a case for them being in their own tier.

2. A pretty exciting game between @ucsdlax and @csusmlax. I think it gives me enough to bump ucsd up a tier and if they hold 2nd in the SLC they’ll almost certainly be going back to nationals this year.

3. @bsumlax I’m sorry to say but yall have been removed from my top 30… welcoming in @fgculacrosse. Still have no idea who in the coaches poll is voting them top 20… wild.

4. I have 15/16 national teams locked in I believe.
TOP 2 teams in each of these conferences:
UMLC, RMLC, PNCLL, SLC, ALC, SELC
Auto bid from (LSA, CLC, WCLL)
If my public school math is right that leaves 1 spot remaining:

@usdmlax @ndsumensclublax @wfulacrosse @gsueagleslax @unflacrosse I think are the teams fighting for that spot. Unless someone else can make a nice run in conference play.
