I’ve just left Harold and Alan-the-dog at their new home in Kent.
They’re seated on a grassy bank looking out over a beautiful garden with oast houses and vineyards in the distance.
It’s very, very peaceful.

Yesterday we had one of the hardest funerals we have ever had to arrange- for our good friend, florist and all round Goddess, Carole Patilla of Tuckshop Flowers. Carole made our dreams for visually stunning and personal funerals come true. She was a genius and an artist. Right from the beginning of A Natural Undertaking she was a fellow traveller- and part of our campaign to make funerals more personal. She helped so many families by working alongside them, often with flowers picked from the garden of the person who had died, creating one off memories.
She also co-founded the Farewell Flowers Directory- a huge commitment to making funeral flowers more sustainable. And, heartbreakingly, only a few months before she died Farewell Flowers won a Gold Medal at the Chelsea Flower Show- the first time funeral flowers had been shown in the history of Chelsea.

We can never replace our dear friend and colleague. She was ace! But we are determined to keep fighting her fight- against ugly single use plastic funeral flowers and waste and try to make every funeral as beautiful as she was.

We’ve dedicated this display to Malcolm.
Malcolm died two weeks ago and his funeral is today.
He was Deb’s @periwinkle.barn Dad.
I’ve been here the past few days putting the display together with Megan and Vicky @greystoneflowers - but it was Debs who did so much of the work beforehand. She got a great team together and sourced the flowers from local growers while, at the same time, co-ordinating the decoration of the famous RHS letters with @flowersfromthefarm
Death doesn’t happen when we choose: it doesn’t wait until we’ve a bit of free time to fit it in.
I’m sure Malcolm knew that Debs would, one day, arrange the flowers on his coffin … we’ve just added a few extra for him here.
