Sheep (Defaid) serve as a poignant reminder of the vital farming communities that have collaboratively nurtured the land, ensuring the preservation of the Welsh countryside for generations to come. With a sheep population of 10 million compared to 3.1 million people, sheep farmers play a pivotal role in safeguarding the local environment against external threats. They embrace regenerative farming practices and collaborate with national parks to raise awareness about the detrimental impact of unsustainable methods. In Eryri (Snowdonia), the sheep graze on heather, grass, and gorse in the mountains for several months, contributing to regrowth once they are relocated. This regrowth phase significantly absorbs more carbon from the atmosphere than trees in an equivalent area….
