Feel free to share and invite anyone looking for community or resources.

Those who mourn victims of police violence are known to wear Black and silver ribbons, yellow for suicide awareness, purple and teal for suicide prevention and overdose awareness. Please bring a candle for our moment of silence.

Bobby's mom has shared that the media is welcomed as long as they're respectful.

Bobby was killed by police during a mental health crisis. This is not okay. We deserve better, every single day.

TWO YEARS since FITCHBURG POLICE took Kevin from us. They entered his home after Kevin called 911 for help, shot him three times less than five minutes after busting down the apartment door. Then they prevented SSM Health from calling his family, so Kevin was alone for three days before he died. Kevin deserves to be remembered!

Nearly 10 years ago, Cordale Quinn Handy was killed by Saint Paul police during a mental health crisis.

The criminal investigation closed in 2017. But today, we know more than investigators did then.

During the 2023 civil trial, the jury heard testimony from an eyewitness who was never interviewed by the BCA. She testified that Cordale complied with officers’ commands, threw his gun aside, and had his hands raised when officers opened fire. Forensic pathology evidence presented at trial also called into question the officers’ account of the shooting.

This is not about relitigating the past—it is about ensuring that when significant new evidence comes to light, our justice system has the integrity to review it.

The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office previously said it would consider newly discovered evidence that differs from what was presented in 2017. That evidence now exists.

We are calling on the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to conduct a full, fair, and independent reinvestigation into the killing of Cordale Handy.

The Handy family has waited nearly a decade for every piece of evidence to be heard. They deserve a complete and thorough review.

This past weekend was the 9th annual Cordale Quinn Handy In Remembrance of Me Celebratory Weekend hosted in the Minnesota Twin Cities. Each year, photos of attendees’ loved ones who have been killed by police are featured on poster boards across the banquet hall. Say their names and learn their stories.

Grimes County, founded in 1846 in East Texas, grew out of a plantation economy where enslaved African Americans made up the majority of the labor force and, for a period after emancipation, the majority of the entire county.

That legacy still shows today: out of roughly 29,000 residents, more than 3,500 are Black, making up 11–13% of the county’s population — a community whose presence is rooted in generations of survival through violence, displacement, and political suppression.

After the Civil War, Black residents briefly held real political power in Grimes County. Their numbers, organization, and leadership reshaped local government during Reconstruction. But that rise triggered a violent white backlash.

White conservatives formed paramilitary groups and, eventually, the White Man’s Union, which used intimidation, assassinations, and coordinated political takeovers to dismantle Black political influence. The 1900 Anderson shootout marked the turning point when white supremacist forces seized full control and locked in a Jim Crow order that lasted for decades.

Throughout the early 20th century, Grimes County saw racial terror lynchings — including the 1922 lynching of Jim Early — and systematic efforts to push Black residents out of civic life. These forces contributed to the long‑term decline of the Black population share from its Reconstruction majority to today’s 11–13%.

Even so, the Black community remains a foundational part of the county’s identity, culture, and history.

Modern Grimes County still carries the imprint of this past. The demographic reality — a county of 29,000 people with a Black population of more than 3,500 — is inseparable from the county’s long struggle over land, power, and whose voices were allowed to shape public life.

The present‑day numbers are not just statistics; they are the living outcome of a century‑and‑a‑half of resistance, suppression, migration, and resilience.

Valerie Jaddo, a #grieving mother is seeking justice for her son Steven Barrier who was ruthlessly murdered October 23, 2019 by Stamford Police on his 23rd birthday.

They savagely dragged his body down the hill. The police laughed & mocked over his lifelessly body, saying “he deserved an Oscar” for faking his death even as he pled for help before being murdered!

They did not call EMS, passed a hospital & did not perform CPR. They brought his lifeless body to a jail cell.

The government & justice system continues to fail this family & all families of police murder! There was no due process! There was no trial. There were no answers. They have tried to erase this ruthless act.

STAMFORD POLICE DEPARTMENT senselessly took Steven’s life and were rewarded for it.

We need the community’s help in joining the fight and raising awareness!

#ReneeGood was a mother of 3 just like Valerie & fought for justice yet both had life senselessly taking from them.

We demand the officers be criminally charged!!!

#BlackHistoryMonth is acknowledging the ones whose life was stolen from us by the hands of police including Steven Barrier. This is his grieving mother you hear in the video telling his story. This video is graphic and may be hard to watch for many but it is the reality #StevenBarrier a 23-year-old young man faced when he was murdered by Stamford #police on his birthday.

The memories he shared with his family are all that they have, including this gruesome footage of his last moments that haunt, but motivate them to seek justice for his life!

None of these police officers were charged. We demand accountability & transparency from law enforcement to open an investigation and hold them accountable!

When we think about this fight; community, time and impact play a huge factor within our strides to justice. Steven was murdered in 2019. Community members of all backgrounds fought to demand justice for his life. #Unity is our power! Years have passed yet the fight continues with his mother Valerie Jaddo, who has to continue on in his absence. The impact is in our resilience, refusing to be silent tho time still progress and hardships exist.

No one deserves to die like this! We are his voice in every way by continuing to tell his story despite the threat of doing so.

The fight for Black lives is ongoing and deeply traumatizing. With the recent news of Trey Reed’s passing, we want to uplift the fact that experiencing this level of violence is deeply traumatic and can send people, especially in Black communities, into a panic.

This level of violence is historical and deeply ingrained in the fabric of the American South. This type of loss and violence is nothing new and is a dark underbelly of the Mississippi streets.

We’ve collected some resources that can be helpful for people navigating loss and processing this tough journey.
