Coming up THIS FRIDAY 4/24: We are so so excited to announce that the mystery band playing the White Schoolhouse is…The Hobknobs!

Coming to us all the way from the Netherlands as part of a 16-date US tour, this enchanting duo, comprised of Yaël Dekker of the vibrant Dutch post-punk band @theklittens and Arie van Vliet of the beloved @lewsberg_gigs (who played the Schoolhouse in 2023!), make the kind of gently playful, sweetly cerebral music that is intimate, unhurried, and free from unnecessary adornment. With a tour-exclusive tape out on the venerable @12xurecs and a debut full-length arriving later this year, you definitely don’t want to miss this exceptional band!!!

Support from KCMO’s @eggs_on_mars and LFK’s very own @figuremodelband.

See you at the Schoolhouse on Friday! 🎉

(Shoutout to @gracedcorndog for the flyer art + delightful animation)

🌷🍪SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT🍪🌷

We’re thrilled to welcome “The Digestive Biscuits” to Lawrence, Kansas as they make their way Stateside for the very first time! Support from the excellent @eggs_on_mars and @figuremodelband.

…But what’s with the quotations? Is this band really called The Digestive Biscuits? Or are they perhaps moonlighting under this delightful, delectable nom de plume (or, shall we say, nom de crumb)? Where are they from? What kind of music do they make? Are they anthropomorphic cookies that, after having been dunked in a magical tea elixir, came to life, sprouted hands and voices, and somehow learned to make tender, wistful jangle pop with delicate close harmonies and a bewitching guy/girl tradeoff vocal style reminiscent of the Pastels, the Vaselines, and Yo La Tengo?

Well, we can tell you that “The Digestive Biscuits” hail from somewhere in Europe; other than that, we are obliged to let the mystery be…that is, until Friday, April 24th! But trust us when we say you owe it to your sense of mystery and adventure to come check out this utterly charming and very special band, because meaningful music discovery involves a wee bit of risk — that’s just how the cookie crumbles.

🍪WHERE: @whiteschoolhouse
🍪WHEN: Friday, April 24
🍪TIME: 7 p.m. doors/7:30 p.m. tunes
🍪HOW MUCH: $15 adv/$18 DOS
🍪All Ages, As Always

Tickets on sale now at @wonderfair and @lovegardensounds, as well as the LAAND website — 🔗 in bio!

Never a better way to celebrate a new month than with an Amplify Cover Show 💕
These are all photos I took of the show on Friday, February 13th- what an incredible show, it was so crazy to hear such amazing artists all night! Special shout-out to @toasterbathband for covering the song me and a couple friends made my first year of camp, you all do that song such justice.
Amplify Lawrence is a non-profit music camp for kids 11-18! Outside of providing a safe space for younger people to explore music and who they are as artists, we host fundraiser shows (like this one!) that uplift the local and national music scene. Our volunteer applications are currently open, and outside of bias, I would seriously recommend it! Amplify is full of such great people and it's created such a welcoming community. I can't wait to see what we do next!

Amplify Lawrence fundraiser/cover show !!!
Amplify Lawrence is a branch of the Girls Rock Alliance; week long summer program that works towards educating and empowering young people on music and social justice. If you have the capability, I high.suggest joining Amplify as a volunteer for thr 2026 camp week. It is truly and experience worth having. If you are unable to attend at a volunteer then I implore you to attend the showcase on August 1st.
Amplify has forever been my favorite part of the year. This will be my 9th year at the camp and my first year as a board member. It holds a very special place in my heart as the first place I began really fostering a love for music and growing out of my shell. Hearing all of these songs again after so long was so beautiful and heartwarming. I hope we get to have many more events like this one in the future. I love Amplify !!
