PART1 "Le dressing Parisien" de MOROBÉ at @hotelmadamereve has come to an end. Can't express the gratitude I feel today. So many amazing creative people came to check us out. Some made me starstruck. Thanks for entering our world and the good vibes that came along with it. We worked for months on this project with the @morobe team and trusted partners. A whole lot of brainstorming sessions and funny talks with endless imagination. Seeing it all come alive, was beyond my expactations. It was so much more. A new Off The Record with two of Belgium’s greatest, @an_vandevorst & @filiparickx (@afvandevorst). Long before “world-building” became fashion’s favourite buzzword, An Vandevorst and Filip Arickx were creating one of fashion’s most poetic universes. One where military references met tenderness, surrealism met precision, and every collection felt like another chapter in an ongoing love story. They didn’t just build a brand, they built a language, together. They met on their very first day at the Antwerp Royal Academy in 1987, fell in love, and founded A.F. Vandevorst in 1996. For over two decades, they created work that was unmistakably their own: intimate, uncompromising, deeply emotional and quietly influential. To me, they embody everything Belgian fashion can be. The first designer piece I ever bought was an A.F. Vandevorst tank top from one of their final archive sales before they closed the ready-to-wear chapter of the brand. I still treasure it. Sitting down with An and Filip for a second time felt like one of those rare full-circle moments. The people whose work shaped so much of the way I think about fashion have become people I genuinely look up to and, somehow, friends. There’s something about all being from Antwerp, having a similar vision and most importantly respect and love for one another. (I’m still convinced I’m their long-lost daughter in another life 🥹). The Return of A.F. Vandevorst A.F. Vandevorst is back. The label, founded in 1997 by soon-to-be-married couple An Vandevorst and Filip Arickx, was one of the longest-standing brands to emerge from Belgium’s second wave. Vandevorst and Arickx first bonded over their shared obsession with hospital gowns, which became a core motif of their joint label, alongside motifs from places as disparate as equestrian, antique lingerie, and armor. In 2020, the brand shut down and dissolved its archive, leaving the two designers to pursue independent academic and creative projects. But this season, Vandevorst quietly returned to the stage with a relaunch of two iconic products: their signature riding boots and an armor-studded leather bag. The offering is small, and the designers do not currently plan to expand the relaunch, but the two capture some of the core motifs of the Vandevorst archive. It couldn’t be better-timed, as the demand for secondhand Vandevorst is the highest it has ever been, and the couple’s return to the industry provides a framework for designers to meet a new customer without a full-scale return to the runway.  In celebration of the resurrection of A.F. Hot, sweaty, and very frikkin grateful for it all. 🖤 Every day I catch myself thinking how surreal it is that, in just a year, I’ve built something that came straight from my heart. What started as a genuine love for learning, educating, and sharing has turned into opportunities I could have only dreamed of, and introduced me to some of the most inspiring people along the way. Building your own business is exciting, overwhelming, rewarding, and terrifying all at once. One day you’re creating because you love it, the next you’re suddenly running a company. But seeing it grow, little by little, makes every late night worth it. One thing I’m certain of: my dad would be really proud. Sometimes I still wish I could have asked him how he did it all. Writing this while on my way to Berlin Fashion Week, where it all started last year with my first keynote ever. And now we’re back and I can’t help but reflect (honestly, I should do this more, but those who know me, know I’m always onto the next thing lol, yes I do sometimes forget to breathe, who else?:)) Thank you to everyone who’s been here, watched a video, didn’t unfollow bc of millions of stories and vids lol, shared kind words, or supported @whatstrendingtmw in any way.
