READ THE STORY OF THE ARTIST AND SWIPE TO SEE WHO IS BEHIND THE CAMERA

Hi.👋🏼 My name is Sandra. I’m 25 years old and currently a third year medical student in northeastern Pennsylvania. I went to college at UCSD and have a degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. I took a year off after college before starting medical school, and it was during this time that I had been wanting to get into film photography. I finally bought my first film camera in May 2019 and I’ve been shooting film for over 2 years now!

I believe my film camera is a time machine. There is something so joyful and nostalgic about looking at 36 frames months after shooting a roll of film and finally seeing how your photos turned out. It’s like you are teleporting back in time to those, sometimes forgotten, moments. Film photography helps me slow down a bit and not only live in the present moment, but also capture it. This photo was taken at one of my local coffee shops downtown right after the sun had set. I had been studying for an exam and listening to John Coltrane while enjoying some jazzmine tea. I was just about to head home and decided to pause for a moment and take this photo as it had not gotten completely dark yet. If you have read this far, this is your sign to shoot more film and keep film alive!!! :)
