Summer 2019. Somewhere in Luxembourg I found Vincent van Really Gotta Gogh shitting behind a tree. #truestory

August: packed the car, locked the studio, gone. France, Spain, Portugal. Two months painting wherever I landed, like a little hut in the woods before coffee. In Porto I painted a wall at Circus Network with Zez Vaz, Pedro Pezinho and the crew. Muito obrigado, Ana Muska.

Then life called me home. My best friend’s family was going through hell, and I was right there with them. Late October into November I painted more than forty canvases in a month.

The cartoons still crashed the big canvases, but now the beasts pushed in next to them: a lucky ladybug, a penguin, a turtle and a German shepherd on a scooter. The words came too, half poem, half curse. Dutch, English, bad puns, big feelings. I called it painted poetry mindfuckism. Somewhere between a petting zoo, a poetry slam and a psych ward. Bring snacks.

And the riddles kept doing their thing. Lines I painted half as a joke came back weeks later as real life. The canvas kept knowing before I did.

PengWin sold, and the money went to the family fundraiser. WhatSubMarienKäfer was for Gaby, because ladybugs bring luck.

The walls kept calling too: pastel waves under the bridge where I started doing graffiti way back, and a skatepark wall.

Raw, fast, ridiculous, tender. Some of it still makes me laugh. Some of it still makes me shut up.

Swipe for the beasts, the walls and the words.

Old works keep resurfacing and go to the shop as they do.

P.D. Dejé un adelanto de nuestro nuevo single “WHISPER” en la última diapositiva 👀
