Bit of a wrap up of an absolutely incredible week away with two of my best mates, had a cracka time and we definitely all got stuck into some trophy fish. Myself cracking my pb flathead coming in at 96cm 🐊. @jaydensfishingadventures landing a very solid 119cm kingfish 👑. @woodysfishin with a very solid 118cm mulloway👻. Plenty of pbs broken this trip and definitely one the three of us won’t forget for a long time, can’t wait for the next one and who knows maybe next time we can break some more pbs.

Embracing everything that is this boat 🤝 but more importantly, everything it represents.

Where I’ve been, the people I’ve met, the lessons I’ve learnt, the highs, the donuts 🍩 😂 and all the moments that have led me here.

Fishing has given me more than I ever expected, and BennyBlue feels like the start of a pretty special next chapter! Proud of the journey so far..

Sometimes I just stop and think about how bloody lucky I am to live this life 🤟

I’m genuinely so grateful for everything I have, but more than anything, for the people I get to share it with. My family, my friends, the good times, the memories and even the tough days like today that make you appreciate it all that little bit more!!

Nothing is taken for granted. I’m just bloody thankful to be here, surrounded by people I love, doing the things that make me happy.

Stock recovery or species collapse?

I'm not a fan of politics, I'm a fan of good fishing, like most of you. The recent proposals in NSW are not about spoiling our fun, they are there to correct some major wrongs and support our fishery in recovering to 30-40% of pre-fished biomass. What a win? Apparently not if you look across the socials today.

The chart I've built here is an estimate timeline of total species collapse for kingies with the best money thrown, at the best that AI can predict, with the best data we have today. At 5.5% of pre-fished biomass (estimated based on data gathered from commercials, recreational anglers, universities and government agencies) we are already into a serious decline that puts our fishery at huge risk of total collapse if things like ocean temps rising, current shifts, extreme weather events or algal blooms start to become the norm... sadly, this is also looking more likely.

Forget the finger pointing, blame games and politics, let's pause and think about what a bad situation we are in, and how much worse it could get without some drastic changes.

I'm not here claiming to be a scientist or to have all the answers, I'd just like to think some day I'll be chasing a healthier kingfish population with my kids and grandkids, which I'm sure most of you fishos also want? Let's give the government a break, let's listen to the universities, let's go for a brighter future with more monster kings in our waters, ledges and esturies than any of us have ever experienced in our lifetime.

Over the past few months I’ve been fishing this nice spot I found pretty hard and getting a good understanding of how the fish act and when they seem to be there in numbers and what’s been triggering them to eat. Definitely found more success on the new moon and noticing a bulk amount of prawns in the area. The @baitjunkieofficial 2.35 prawn in motor oil has been absolutely deadly here imitating the prawns perfectly and definitely fooling heaps of fish. Taking @jaydensfishingadventures and @woodysfishin out to get amongst the fun has led to some productive and very fun sessions on the kayak. #finessefishing #mullowayfishingaustralia #fishing #kayakfishing

Waking up at 4am to go fishing hits different to….
Waking up at 7am for work, we have all felt that burst of energy.

The knots are tied, lures and baits have been soaked n ready to go. Car is loaded and you know exactly where you are going.

I’d rather have that addicted feeling than all the other terrible addictions that exist.
