🎶 Clarinetist!

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Spending time at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music this week with some of the country’s best bass clarinetists, who I’m now lucky to call friends, was wonderful. Highlights were getting to play @jon_russell_bassclarinet’s music which is always a pleasure, hearing @jayweesms07 perform Beethoven 9, Brahms, and MTT with the @sfsymphony, @jeffanderle coach topics including great practice etiquette, and the full faculty (with @stefaniegardner who helped coached my slap tongue technique) perform together. #bassclarinet #clarinet #music #reeds #sanfrancisco

So excited to share the recording of Lifesavers, written in loving memory of Mrs. Jeri Franke, my new duet for piano and clarinet! This was as much a joy to write as it was to perform. It’s an especially meaningful piece and I don’t think it could’ve turned out any better. Enjoy :)

Copying @finnsclarinet and stealing rep from other instruments (except it's rep for my main instrument and i'm playing it on an instrument VERY new to me 😅)

Ignore my posture LOL 🦐

Finn and I were out supporting women this weekend by being performative performative males at the UMich Performative Male competition ‼️

We actually made it to the finals round, and I’m pretty sure we were top 3 based on the cheering 🥹🤙

It was so invigorating to see everyone’s support of feminist literature, free menstrual products, and amazing artists such as Laufey, Clairo, and Mitski.

Thank you Finn for arranging a duet of From the Start for Bb and A clarinet (his Bb and my A are Greenlines). Thank you @saiyazeng for the Labubu, and thank you @rj_mehta22 for helping me buy performative-looking clothes.

Why the fuck did I format this like a LinkedIn post?

Clarinetists (elementary through college) are welcome to perform in a masterclass taught by Ricardo Morales on February 3, 12:30-2:00, at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Repertoire should be well-prepared, but does not need to be memorized. A piano is available for accompaniment, but students must provide their own pianist (accompaniment is NOT required for participation). Maximum performance time: 10 minutes (excerpts are allowed). A total of 20 minutes will be allowed for each student.

Register your interest by filling out the form found by clicking the link in our bio.

Please note that registration does not guarantee selection to participate. Four students will be selected to participate, and selection will be based on showcasing a variety of repertoire and representing various teachers’ studios.

Deadline for registration applications is January 26, and participants will be notified of their selection on January 28.

There is no charge for participation or attendance, but donations are gratefully welcomed. Mr. Morales will be performing Jacob Bancks’ Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra with the Olympia Symphony Orchestra on February 4 at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, Olympia. This piece was written for Mr. Morales, and we are honored to be performing the West Coast Premiere.
