Just finished installing “Monument,” which will be on view at Midway Gallery @midwayartiststudios as part of the 46th Annual Fort Point Open Studios. This amazing event is happening Oct 16–18 (Fri 4–7pm & Sat—Sun 12–6pm). While I will, sadly, be out of town that weekend (☹️), my work will be on view (😁) in the resident group exhibition and in HALL618 (the exhibition space just outside my studio). More details soon!

Visit the Study Abroad Fair tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept 15) from 10am-2pm to learn about: CAS 550 Sustainability & Creativity in Iceland! 🇮🇸

This course invites students from all majors to explore sustainability through an immersive, creative, and place-based lens. Grounded in Iceland’s distinctive landscapes, culture, and relationship with the environment, we’ll consider sustainability not only as an ecological challenge, but also as a creative and cultural practice.

No prior artistic experience is required—only curiosity and a willingness to engage deeply with Iceland as a living context for learning. This course will run during Fall 2027 with travel to Iceland from August 20-28, 2027. Students graduating May 2027 are ineligible.

This course will be led by Professors Kristen Mallia and Amy Monticello. Pop by the fair so we can answer your questions!

The Shelf has been on use for a short while since we opened our space for Joanna’s beautiful oceany exhibition to the group show Miren Por Mi Ventana curated by Christopher. The Shelf has been visited, read, touched by so many of wanderers came to Behind VA Shadows’ space.

We want to highlight these amazing 2D formats through our digital space for you who lives afar or not able to catch up a right time when we open the door.

Meet Kristen Mallia @fireballdelicious and Field Notes ( Index_23):

This site-specific issue of Field Notes (Index_23) and the content within was developed during an artist residency at L’Appartamento Napoli, in Naples, Italy, during the month of June 2023. Additional inspiration was gathered during the days in Rome and Sardinia that followed. This publication is an extension of Love Letter: A Site-Specific Performance that took place at Via Materdei 73 in Naples on June 28, 2023. Special thanks to Amelia Bateman for her generosity, wisdom, and friendship.

We will open our space on July 12 for celebrating our next exhibition “somewhere i have never been” come and see the exhibit plus grab Kristen’s work to read.

Next opening hour will be 5-8pm on June 16th, come to celebrate our current show Miren Por Mi Ventana curated by @chriscarlosmontejo on Linden st, and Sewerfolk by Isola @iggyartofficial at 1 Brattle Sq location!

Two weeks ago members of @radiuscollective were invited to @mfacdtxst to lead the spring residency programming. Over 2 days Radius Collective provided student critiques, presented a keynote, and lead a 1 day conceptual design making workshop, Prompt. We had a blast working with and getting to know graduate students during the weekend.

@radiuscollective were guests at the @mfacdtxst residency in San Marcos Texas this month! We had the pleasure of attending student crits, guest lecturing throughout the semester, giving the keynote presentation at the residency, and collaborating with the MFA students on a big process-based exhibition.

The exhibition theme was “distance,” and each member of RC contributed a prompt interpreting the concept in a different way. @ck_field and I designed the prompt for a type and audio installation, and the participants brought it to life in a beautiful/wild wall of words and accompanying soundtrack.

Grateful to @josh_dutt and @mfacdtxst faculty staff and students for this special experience

Today Radius Collective leads graduate students at @mfacdtxst through a day of making. “Prompt” is collaborative workshop that explores the theme of distance through rapid design prompts and experimental making activities that investigate mapping, translation, and movement. By the end of the day, participants transform their collective experiments into a collaboratively designed exhibition assembled on-site.
