✨ Sunday Swoons ✨

Happy Sunday, you beautiful creatures you! 🩷 This week was a busy one and whew was it a scorcher. I only managed to finish one book and didn’t really start any new ones (oops) but I do have big plans for next week… probably… 👀

The booksta world was buzzing with so many anniversaries and birthdays this week…we are swimming in Leos and I couldn’t be happier. 💕 So happy birthday and bookstaversary to you shining stars!

Yesterday, I got out of the house and hit up two romance bookstores here in OKC, met a local author (super excited to read her book!), and grabbed a few irresistible bookish treats. Today, I’m taking my sister’s advice….my tan is fading” and heading to the pool because, girl… same.

It's been a while since I've done any book tags (let's be honest, it's been a while since I've posted at all) and what better tag to do than lovely @sunlitpages 's strawberry tag, especially as I had strawberries for breakfast

🍓 a book that is ripe for summer: convenience store by Sonoko Machida - I saw the cover and just knew it had to be one of my summer books this year!!!!

🍓 a book I can’t wait to read: after @books.with.jean raved about sunburn by chloe michelle howarth, I'm hoping to -/somehow/ add this one to my summer TBR

🍓 a book to read by the pool: people we meet on vacation by Emily Henry (featuring scenes actually set at a pool)

🍓 a guilty pleasure book: I don't feel guilty about any of the books I enjoy so this is a tough one 😆

🍓 a sweet comfort read: ann of green gables is so very comforting and a perfect read from spring to winter really as our protagonist ann cycles through the seasons

🍓 a book to take on a picnic: while ann of green gables is the perfect answer for this prompt too, I will add alice in wonderland - have a little tea party with the mad hatter, while you're at it!

🍓 a book to devour in one sitting: strange pictures by Uketsu! I was gripped by the mystery-soaked pages from the start!

✨A Guide to Bookish Content Creation✨

Are you looking for a little post inspiration? Are you feeling overwhelmed by content creation and looking for a little structure? Are you wondering how sometimes it seems like everyone’s feeling creative but you?

Here’s a little crash course on creating content for bookstagram, including where I get inspiration and the structure I use to help me not get burnt out. I’ve been creating non-stop for about 7 months now and have slowly learned what works and doesn’t work for the creative side of my brain. I think this is the longest I’ve stuck with any kind of design work, if you don’t count the two years that I played Animal Crossing New Horizons religiously 😌

The biggest thing I want to emphasize is that creativity is a muscle that has to be exercised sometimes. Start out with the accessible basics (ex. Taking photos with your phone, using Canva’s free tier) before you jump headfirst into investing in a camera or paying for a software subscription. If it feels like other people’s posts are “better” than yours, it’s probably because they’re putting in the time to hone those skills. The only comparison that matters is you today vs you yesterday ✨

🐝 𝐇𝐢𝐯𝐞 (A cosy read) - Oh I haven't read it yet but I'm excited for Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia - I hear it's definitely a cosy read!

I feel like I need the Bookstagram equivalent of a warm hug. I know there's a part of this community that look down on aesthetic accounts as opposed to accounts that focus on critical reviews. But can't we have both? A cozy bookstagram photo always makes me smile and a well written and/or heartfelt review are all just a fun part of this community.
