So this is how “Big Wild Sun” began to take shape…in a studio in Astoria with a couple of great guys.

Early 2024 was a strange time for me, and I was having some trouble getting through it (note the depression beard seen here). One day my dude @sethondro called up and told me to just get my ass into his studio to record some tunes, it’d help. And it did! Props to him and @daveleblancdrums on this track, too — they made the whole thing fun as hell and we put together some great stuff.

I’ve got a couple more from this session coming down the pipe, but for now, mark your calendars for Friday the 13th and enjoy “Big Wild Sun”☀️

So the second song on our new live album “All the Faded Stars Still Shine” is a little tune called “Bringing Hollywood Back to Life”. An anthem for the used-up, forgotten, and abandoned, if you will.

It had come to the point where nothing felt the same anymore. I was longing for old movies. The stuff they were making nowadays wasnt “art” at all…just content. To quote the ever excellent and philosophically brilliant @yohjiyamamotoofficial “…fast, fast…cheap, cheap…sexy, sexy, sexy”. I wanted the metaphorical Hollywood. Needed that Hollywood. But Hollywood was dead, and had been dead for a long time. Pretty soon, Video would be out of a job and drinking at the bar on a Tuesday afternoon, right next to the Radio Star who she killed not that long ago. Unless, maybe…all was not actually lost just yet✨

We opened our set on the *new live album* “All the Faded Stars Still Shine” with a great cover — “Begin the Begin” from @rem. It’s the first track on their album “Lifes Rich Pageant” and also was the opening track on an old bootleg I had called “The Megatour”. Banger of a song.

If it weren’t for this band, I wouldn’t have picked up a guitar (that’s why I’m playing a Jetglo @rickenbackerofficial 360 here), @matt_raymond probably wouldn’t have picked up a bass, and we wouldn’t know each other. So we figured we’d pay tribute.

You can listen to it wherever you get your music and watch the full concert video on YouTube or just hit the link in bio business ❤️🤘

Tonight at midnight, y’all✨

“All The Faded Stars Still Shine” — our new live album — hits the shelves and services late tonight! Man, what a way to cap off January. The night we recorded and filmed this (the concert video drops at midnight, too!) was a helluva party, and we’re very thrilled to share a bit of that vibe…and of course, some great music, too!

Featuring @matt_raymond, @jakenavarr0, and @johncolonnamusic…what a pleasure to be able to share the stage with these three giants & gentlemen.

Shot by the endlessly talented @mariagigante at @firepowermedia, and mixed, mastered and edited by the masterful @michaelswuerth — none other than the man who brought the original @thegranddisaster album to life.

Thank you guys — we hope you enjoy it. Love you ❤️

Looking back on “Are You Scared?” with the incomparable @jessie_wagner 🎃

It’s not every day that you play slide guitar in a funky bathtub wearing a bathrobe and flamingo slippers.

We had a blast filming this one in the basement of an old Bushwick church. What a trippy spot…lotta strange rooms down there that were absolutely perfect for this kinda thing. Still one of my favorite music video experiences (obviously b/c of the slippers🦩)
