Very exited to hear what Richard B brings to Bohs. He is such a good selector and dj. Our bodies ad minds are in for a treat. Perfect music for body time combobulation. The clip is from the track Mindcontrol by Ingo Hammer released on Richard's own label Industrial Lies.

Richard B has been involved with electronic music for 30 years. He worked as a music journalist from 1996 to 2020, writing for Irish and international outlets including Hot Press, Juno Plus, Resident Advisor and most notably at DJ Mag - where he was techno editor for over 20 years. He has interviewed artists such as Drexciya, Jeff Mills, Underworld, Robert Hood, Depeche Mode, Dave Clarke, Juan Atkins, Surgeon, Silent Servant, Regis, Carl Craig etc.

Richard was a resident DJ at Test, the night that brought acts like Sleeparchive, Redshape, Sandwell District and Dopplereffekt to Dublin.

In 2016, he set up First Cut( @first_cut_records ) a vinyl label dedicated to showcasing emerging techno, house and electro talent from Ireland, with releases from Giles Armstrong, Defekt, Tr-One, Lerosa and Reflection Port Assembly.

In 2024, he established Industrial Lies. Named after the B-side of Cybotron's 'Clear', the label platforms Chicago house, ebm, industrial and new beat-inspired music. Releases to date have come from Der Strom, Poseidon84 and Ingo Hammer.

A lifelong record collector, Richard's vinyl sets are across the board, from new wave and Italo Disco to jacking acid tracks and raw Hague bangers.

ZKELLIES
ZKELLIES perform live techno played by hand & foot. It is music for dancing.

The ZKELLIES show is an attempt to perform techno music according to Steve Reich's principle of "no hidden structural devices". To this end, ZKELLIES utilise no backing tracks. No sequencers. No click track.

Longtime Irish underground music stalwart Andy Connolly (Naive Ted, Unscene) has enlisted the renowned pair of Dan Walsh (Fixity) & Killian Barton (Bill Karnation) to create a series of short musical phrases designed to be played by two drummers, moving between these phrases in the same way as a DJ builds a set, performing a perceived "faithful" version of loop-based, dancefloor focussed, techno music.

This particular strand of techno is traditionally created with sequencers controlling synthesizers & samplers. ZKELLIES is an attempt to take the sequencer out of the equation.

Though the music is semi-improvised & experimental in nature, there is no wish to subvert the norms of the techno space, only a desire to perform the music respectfully & in a different way.

It is music for dancing.

Industrial Lies - Richard B @first_cut_records

Next up in Series 02 is Industrial Lies, a label born from the same fluidity that shaped music in the 80s and 90s, when styles and sounds borrowed from each other, morphed and evolved.

After running First Cut since 2016, and platforming Irish house, techno and electro talent, by 2024 it was time for a new project.

The name Industrial Lies comes from the B-side to Cybotron’s Clear, a track whose squalling guitar-led rant called out corporate dystopia. That aesthetic runs through the label today, with artwork and release names echoing a distrust of consolidated power and pointing to future unrest.

For TFTR, that sound has been distilled into a 60 minute mix reflecting the label and its parties at Pawnshop in Dublin.

Across 19 tracks, expect Morphosis’ dense chants, edits of 80s acts like Absolute Body Control, tough acid, relentless modern industrial and Hague bangers, moving through new beat, Italo, EBM, electro and beyond.

For the Label Spotlight, the choice is Ingo Hammer’s Chinois, taken from his second EP, The Devil’s Hammer.

Metronomic beats and a throbbing bassline lead into a wave of dystopian acid that spirals ominously.

“It sounds like Front 242 getting it on with Adonis, with Jah Wobble on bass.”

Industrial Lies is the offshoot of Dublin house and Techno imprint, First Cut @first_cut_records. Established in 2023, and named after the B side of Cybotron’s electro classic, ‘Clear’, the label was established to shine a light on left-of-centre music from the past and present, including proto-Chicago house, ebm/industrial, electro and adjacent sounds.
With a focus on high-quality, limited-edition vinyl, Industrial Lies has put out three
releases to date: Der Strom’s ‘Gleis Eins’;
Poseidon84’s ‘New Industry’ and the debut
from mysterious European producer Ingo Hammer - the industrial/ebm sounding
‘Hammer Time’.

On October 18th @dsddeepseadweller & @timeinbody join forces to present @love.fist.tears (Live) & Ingo Hammer (Live) with support from @laura__lolz_ (Gash Collective, Time in Body) and @prunroche (Deep Sea Dweller) for their first voyage to the deep depths of @yamamoritengu

L.F.T., short for Love Fist Tears, is a DJ, producer, and live act whose sound blends New Wave and breakbeat-influenced Electro, shaped by the distorted drum machines of The Hague and the romantic synth melodies of 1980s San Francisco.

Over the past few years, L.F.T. has released timeless music on respected labels such as Return To Disorder, Mechatronica, Tresor, and Mannequin Records, where his third album is set to drop soon, with past albums on Mannequin and Osàre Editions. Originally from Hamburg and now based in Berlin, he co-curates nights at the Golden Pudel Club alongside his friend Lukas. The duo also run the experimental label Neoprimitive.

L.F.T. will be coming equipped with an arsenal of machines for their first live set in Ireland, so expect all kinds of gritty Electro, Wave, and EBM action.

Ingo Hammer is a mysterious European producer who just released his debut EP on Dublin label Industrial Lies - Hammer Time, a devastating mix of electro, industrial and EBM - each track a guaranteed dance floor hammer. Inspired by electronic sounds from the late 70s and 80s but focussed on the modern floor, Ingo’s music is essential listening for Viewlexx, Murder Capital and IFM freaks.
