Starting around 1998, as the rest of the planet was busy digesting #drumnbass and #frenchtouch, Berlin was rediscovering the sound of the '80s and calling it #electro. The city was bubbling with artists daring to perform with their bodies, voices, synthesizers and electric guitars in clubs that were only used to techno artists turning knobs. Few names such as @peachesnisker and JEANS TEAM remained in collective memory while the majority left a legacy of forgotten obscure records. One such artist went by the name of TETSUO. A young Norwegian who sought to break through in Berlin, playing all over town and releasing vinyls on various labels before vanishing back to Oslo and becoming a writer. This Saturday at @Disco.Bizarre, @BizarreBilly has invited him back to play old and new songs under his new name that in Scandi ears sounds pretty cool: @its_nachtleben. Providing us with a smooth start into the evening is @crimsonlakemusic of @floppydisco.berlin. Mind the dresscode and behavioral rules at @kitkatclub.official!

SUCH A WIMP! ——— out on @mjkrecs Originally by the @firstmenonpluto New version by @bizarrebilly feat. Gino Maradé on lead vocals. Video material from various situations in Berlin in the years 2000. Cameo appearances by… you know who. E, C, E, C, A#, D, F, E… I could have told ya. I could have tied you to the wardrobe. I could have warned ya, worn you out 'til you can't cope. I could have spoiled ya. I could have teased ya with crunchy nut loops. I could have... If I weren't Such A Wimp!

RECORD RELEASE!!! How long does it take to step out of anonymity? If you're not the kind that bothers label owners each day, or starts their own label, thus bothering music lovers every hour of the week, then it can certainly take decades until occasions come your way. In coming days @bordelloaparigi is bringing out the DIAMONDS IN THE NIGHT vol.6 EP, aptly named after the fabulous #italodisco song with its interesting key changes, in both VINYL and DIGITAL. From a choice of a dozen really neat tracks that I am proud of, the label owner has chosen EL PATRON CAPRON ("a boss called Capron") — a #progdisco beast that I recorded with fabulous jamesrod84 last year. James kind of had a general idea where and how to go and directed me as his trained musician extension, but I sneaked in plenty of deep and complex chord progressions and completed the picture with a #progressiverock -inspired dramatic #synthesizersolo. That's what I mean by #progressivedisco. Picking up where #spacedisco #HiNRG and #cosmicdisco left off in the '80s. You will find the 12" in suitable record shops soon, but you can also get your digital copy. I linked some of the online shops on my website. Guess what: Link in bio. Also featured in this release: @clubmayz @ricardobaez__ and @seth_booth_ !! Next chance to hear this song as part of my live set is on January 4th at Berlin's Salon zur wilden @renate.berlin . If you like this tune, you should also find the EP I did with @yesandthesun very satisfactory. Also 'Logical Sun' from the 2nd @disco.bizarre EP qualifies as #progdisco. If you have any suggestions where to release the other hundreds of songs that I wrote in my lifetime and never published anywhere, give them a hint.

20 years ago, my first vinyl came out. The first men on pluto. On stage we were a 4-nerd-electropunk band, but off-stage it was basically just me. One night I was just leaving the club when a DJ I didn't know suddenly put this song on. I ran back to dance to my own song. That was awesome. He went by the name of Tyler Durden at the time. Not sure if he's still active. 2 years earlier, when I recorded the first sketch to this song, Jen Bender of @grossstadtgefluester_band contributed to the sound design of one of the noises in the background. She used to hang out with us in the electropunk scene before founding the band that got her pretty popular. By the time I was asked for the names of the song authors I had completely forgotten about that. I'm still very embarassed about that. Maybe she would have actually received some money from it. I never did. Zero. The record company "Neuton" went bankrupt a few years later.
