as the clouds rolled in, Elise & Ben were faced with a decision: move their ceremony indoors, or get married outside under the open sky. they had always imagined an outdoor ceremony, so choosing to say “I do” in the pouring rain was a no-brainer. with the support of their family and friends huddled under umbrellas (and their vendors in rain gear of all kinds), they had the most memorable, exuberant, romantic ceremony I’ve ever photographed. the rain came down harder as they said their vows, and Ben tossed the umbrella to the side when it came time to kiss Elise — drenched in the downpour, finally his wife after 15 years of loving her. a little (or a lot of) rain doesn’t have to ruin your wedding day. and when you’re made of sunshine, like E+B, a storm doesn’t matter at all. A little island escape, right here in St. Louis. Kori and Pierrick’s celebration brought Tahitian inspired flavors to Wild Carrot, with the menu written on oversized palm leaves, bright patterned napkins and tall tropical centerpieces throughout. A true paradise that still felt intimate and full of laughter. Guests wandered from their island seafood station to the fusion taco station which came with a branded K&P house hot sauce, and the sweetest finish was a couples cake with passion fruit filling and coconut buttercream with a trio of desserts. We love creating a menu so unique to each couple and really working as a vendor team to bring every station to life. Hours of setup, condensed into a few seconds. And yes, I will move that plate half an inch. A little behind the scenes from the promotional shoot for Seated Runway 1.0. Being the creative director is one of my favorite parts of what I do. But when creative partners trust me with their work, there’s a responsibility that comes with it. I wanted every contribution to be thoughtfully showcased while bringing everyone’s work together into one clear vision. We were asking people to imagine event rentals in a way they hadn’t seen before. This shoot needed to help them see what I could see in my head. So much time went into choosing, placing, adjusting, stepping back… and adjusting again. How the fabric fell. What the camera would see. Whether each detail had its moment. Very detail-oriented. A little ADHD. Very invested in getting it right. Because this was more than setting a pretty table. It was the first glimpse of what we were about to bring to the runway. The tux, the bow tie, the way he settles into a room. There’s a whole story on the groom’s side of the wedding morning, too. His anticipation. His sense of style. Those few minutes with a drink in hand before everything begins. I like giving that story room. Taking the time to photograph him on his own, with the same attention and intention we give the bride.
