Today I announced federal government support of over $28 million at the groundbreaking ceremony of a 66-unit Odayanhaway indigenous-led housing project at the First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa, in partnership with Ontario Aboriginal Housing Services. The word Odayanhaway means “little village” in Ojibway, and this will be part of a larger 229-unit affordable rental housing project - a true village. It was an inspiring celebration and a model of how faith groups, indigenous non-profits, the private sector and government can work together to build welcoming communities where people can live in culturally-appropriate affordable homes where they can access the services that they need to thrive. I look forward to seeing this vision become a reality. It is a true example of reconciliation in action. #OttWN

Happy to share that I’ve recently become a Lay Chaplain with the First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa — helping to create and hold ceremonies for occasions of personal significance including weddings, commitment ceremonies and renewal of vows; baby naming ceremonies, child dedications and coming of age ceremonies; memorials, celebrations of life and MAID ceremonies.

Reach out if you or a loved one is looking for someone to help create a ceremony or milestone ritual that embraces and expresses your personal beliefs and values.

You don’t have to be a member of the congregation — services are open to anyone of any heritage or faith, of any culture or race, of any gender or orientation, in any body, all that you are.

A powerful finale to close Concert Series 2025–26 at First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa 🎶

Last night, Trio INK – led by NACO concertmaster Yosuke Kawasaki – returned to Chamberfest with guest violist Kyle Ambrust for a beautifully intimate evening of chamber music centred on Clara Schumann, Robert Schumann, and Johannes Brahms.

From Clara’s luminous Three Romances to Brahms’s richly introspective Piano Quartet No. 3 and Robert Schumann’s radiant Piano Quartet in E-flat Major, the programme traced a web of admiration, influence, and deep musical kinship.

Trio INK – dirigé par le concertmaster de l’Orchestre du CNA Yosuke Kawasaki – était de retour à Chamberfest avec l’altiste invité Kyle Ambrust, pour une soirée de musique de chambre d’une grande intimité, centrée sur Clara Schumann, Robert Schumann et Johannes Brahms.

Looking back on a very special evening with @alyshabrilla and @oknaledi performing the Fri night at @ottawagrassrootsfestival. Alysha took requests from the audience and was surprised at how many fans called out their favourite songs, which she spontaneously remixed into a beautiful medley. The super talented @hollyalainearts captured the performance in a live painting, as well as a pre-show personalized face paint of Alysha’s cat.
