Throwback to a fun hearty dinner with HK friends at our usual favourite Da Domenico🍷🙌

Champagne Marius Selosse Clos Roger ~ my first time trying this producer, & its rather good; fresh toasted brioche, baked apples, a touch of almonds; crisp vibrant acidity in that all too familiarly appealing oxidative style 🍾

2 legendary vintages of Hermitage La Chapelle. The 1990 was a multi-dimensional beast with so much power & verve, dark juicy plums, grilled meat; still a long way from its peak. The 1978 was weightlessly ethereal, with blissful bittersweet cherries, smokey incense, dried lychees; an effortless beauty in prime drinking zone💥

Saute Loup 2010 ~ a sort of “private family reserve” by Petrus, this has all the DNA of its Pomerol pedigree; a truly gifted nose of dark chocolate & vanilla cream, polished velvety fruitcore that displayed wonderful accelerated complexity over the course of the meal; a delicious drink👍

2019 - sweeping scent of fresh cut rose petals, blueberries, fruit tart, power packed like a Haaland acrobatic volley💥💥

2020 - a bit more grip & brooding on the palate than the 19, dark cherries, fruit compote, woody nuances on the tannins; give this a bit more time in the cellar🔥

La Tache 1973 ~ the bouquet was gloriously captivating, with dried autumn leaves, scented sachets; well accentuated mellowed tones of wolfberries, figs, black tea, dried botanicals; at 50+ yrs this was a wine full of depth & dimensions 🍷💥🫶

Jayers in Burgundy last week🙌

82 Nuits Meurgers had slight TCA funk on the nose that blew off gradually, earthy fruit with tea leaves, mushrooms, decent overall structure🍷

83 Echezeaux was truly spectacular, burst of potpourri scent, silky mellowed wolfberries, bittersweet vosne spices, long fluid acidity on the finish💥💥
