For more than three decades, the owner of Metal Masher chased the dream of weighing a tournament winning blue marlin.

On the first full day of the Emerald Coast Billfish Classic, everything finally came together.

Captain Landon Bell and the crew aboard the 72′ Viking found themselves grinding through a slow morning in Green Canyon after raising several fish that simply wouldn’t commit. Eventually Bell made a short move and the sonar marked what looked like a good fish.

…At 780 pounds, it became the largest tournament blue marlin of Captain Bell’s career. The catch earned Captain Landon Bell 500 Captain of the Year points and currently stands as the largest blue marlin weighed in the @galatiyachtsales Gulf Coast Division during the 2026 season.

Vikings delivered at the Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic, claiming the two heaviest blue marlin of the tournament. Seventeen-year-old Teddy Tinney landed the tournament’s heaviest blue marlin, a massive 780.4-pound fish aboard the Viking 72 Metal Masher. After an intense two-and-a-half-hour battle, Tinney brought the fish to the scales to secure top honors. Robert Burroughs aboard the Viking 70 Quick Time followed with a 494.3-pound blue marlin, earning the second-heaviest fish of the tournament.

In the release division, the Viking 74 It Just Takes Time earned second place with an impressive tally of seven blue marlin, three white marlin and one sailfish release. They also claimed Top Crew with Captain Myles Colley at the helm. Captain Patrick Ivie led his team Breathe Easy, a 72, to third place Crew.

Aboard the Viking 80 Never Settle, Jack Murdica weighed the tournament’s second-heaviest dolphin at 43.2 pounds. Close behind was Adam Helms on the Viking 50 Squid Row, whose 41.4-pound dolphin earned third place.

In the tuna division, Justin Waight aboard the Viking 55 Walk West weighed the tournament’s third-heaviest tuna at 155.8 pounds.

In the wahoo category, Buck Gosnay on the Viking 50 Squid Row claimed second place with a 46.8-pound fish, while Austin Massingill aboard the Viking 52 Dixieland Delight secured third place with a 42.2-pound wahoo.

Ten Viking anglers finished in the top three of their respective Top Angler categories. Congratulations to all.
