Here’s one from a little ways back that never got social media love. Not so little garage with full ADU above and a little bit of breezeway to tie it all together. Lumber siding and windows by @fitchlumber #customhomebuilder #orangecountync #adu #greenbuilding #hillsboroughnc

This project here in my hometown has been quite a journey! A little before and after to showcase.
We started with the abandoned “Champayne Club”—a derelict local legend—and breathed new life into it. Perched on a hill overlooking a creek in west Hillsborough, we faced almost every challenge in the book: an existing structure to work around, a floodplain, massive amounts of rock, and the ultimate goal of achieving a net-zero home.
Through a complicated sequence and more than a few surprises along the way, I feel we’ve truly succeeded in letting this home shine in both performance and aesthetic while honoring the original structure.
Grateful for my incredible team of trade partners and a wonderful client who trusted me with their vision. #netzero #customhome #greenbuilding #customhomebuilder #architecture

Great design gets better when the right people are in the room.

We had the pleasure of welcoming the AIA Triangle Small Firm Exchange (SFX) to Wood + Water Studio for an evening of conversation, education, and connection.

One of the things I enjoy most about our industry is bringing architects, designers, builders, and product specialists together to talk openly about what makes a project successful—from the initial design intent to cabinetry, product selections, coordination, and the details that ultimately get built.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared ideas, asked questions, and spent the evening with us. Events like this are a great reminder that the best projects are rarely the work of just one person—they come from collaboration.

And we loved having the opportunity to share our Raleigh studio with the AIA Triangle community.

A recent @kolbewindows install for @cackalackycustomhomes 📸

Tilt & Turn Windows offer versatile, European-inspired functionality with a clean, modern aesthetic. Designed to open two ways, they can tilt inward for ventilation or turn inward for a full opening—providing flexibility, airflow, and easy operation.

A lot of progress happening here. Rough-ins are complete, the siding is starting to define the exterior, and the interior is getting closer to the next big step: sheetrock. It’s always exciting to see a project move from framing into spaces that are beginning to feel real. @lupedrosadesign @fitchlumber @buildsense #modern #modernhomes #residential #newhome #residentialarchitecture
