I truly can’t believe I finished my first 5K.

10 weeks ago I had never run before (okay okay, I was a sprinter in school but I was donnnnne after those 100m) and couldn’t even imagine running for a minute, let alone 45+ consecutive minutes?!?

In a bigger body that really should be wearing two bras just to hold everything together, running a 5K seemed like one of my 2026 far fetched dreams until I saw an ad taped to a post in Deptford on a walk one evening in February for a Couch to 5K program starting later that month with Darren and @fitfun_active. I signed up that evening 🤪

Scroll to see my initial fears and pep talk request in ChatGPT 😅 I was terrified just to run for a minute, then two, then four.

But I kept showing up every week, unsure if I’d complete it, but determined all the same and always surprising myself to get through each week time and time again. Throw a surprise pregnancy, heartbreaking miscarriage and a birthday into those weeks and you have a recipe for a stubborn AF Taurus who was gonna finish this 5K no matter what.

5K seems so tiny in comparison to a marathon, but for me this was a marathon and a mental battle to overcome - just one foot infront of the other and repeat. The way strangers cheered and clapped for me today just like they did for the marathon last Sunday was truly special and something I’ll remember forever, and I’ll listen to the cheers from this video on days I need reminding of my determination and grit.

Thank you again to Darren for being the most incredible coach, Lauren for being the best running buddy, Lorenzo for believing in me every slow step of the way and Clare and Lili for being my ultimate cheer squad. I’m so grateful 💗

If you’ve been looking for a sign to try something hard - may this be it. Start small and just keep at it, I’m here to cheer you on and do hard things with you 💪🏼✨ Friends, I think ya girl’s a runner now?!? 🏃🏻‍♀️

Clients turned into Friends 🌞

A great time was had!

You might not be able to tell from this picture but this is the energy of some great people I’ve been able to work with in the last year 💃🏽🙂‍↔️🕺🏿

Not everyone was present - so I’d like extend this thank you to the ones missing out on yesterdays celebration too 💕

It’s been an incredible journey/year going from one place to another but never loosing sight of what my intentions are when it comes to working with others - to help them feel good inside/out!

Thanks to your continuous support I have even been able to return to university and fund my studies, with the aims of becoming a fully accredited physio in the near future - I cannot thank you enough 🙏

Also thank you to Darren - owner of the studio I’m currently based @fitfun_active providing a safe space for women like myself that have struggled with such an important issue - on numerous occasions throughout my career in the fitness industry.

Not only that but also organising the event yesterday and fostering a more united community training under the same umbrella!

That being said for any enquiries feel free to drop me a message directly on this personal page or @inyofit

Recent addition to my training schedule - Track days

Find a reason to sprint. Trust me. Was a shock to the system at first but starting to feel the benefits.

It's said that sharing food releases oxytocin as a way to facilitate bonding and cooperation among groups of people. As a community, we have a responsibility to one another. I found out yesterday that this country has a minister for loneliness 😞. It's up to us to make that post redundant.

📹 A speech about courage...

Firstly, a huge thank you to those who made this couch to 5k Streatham running course possible. @shivysho @hitchonomra & Louis Liburd. "Serving others is the rent we pay to live on this planet."

To our participants, well done for showing the courage to change.

What an incredible 10 weeks of another successful couch to 5k running course, building confidence, community, and influencing change.

We regard running to be a very accessible form of exercise. However, many people find it challenging or avoid it out of fear, especially when feeling unfit. We, therefore, invest in providing opportunities within our community to those who need the support.

By doing this, we have witnessed the transformation in confidence, fitness, and general well-being of hundreds of people over a decade.

No matter the fitness level you are at, we cater for all types of levels. Boxing is such an intense but rewards workout. Not only are you burning calories, but you are also learning new skills with a self defensive aspect.

@spriv.5 in the video is transition from football to boxing, so we are making the necessary steps to ensure she is homing the right skill set needed.

If you are interested in 121 boxing and conditioning DM 'Boxing' to get started.

A lot of my ladies that come to me are suffering with aches and pains, or have chronic illnesses such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, and so on.

You may see these things as barriers, but with the correct prescription of exercise from myself those barriers soon disappear.
