A joyful milestone for TSCS!

This morning, our community broke ground on our new Student Life Center—a 13,000-square-foot space where students and families will grow, gather, and belong for years to come!

The celebration began with morning prayers on our South Campus, a special appearance by our Golden Eagle mascot riding a front loader, and students waving pennants in excitement. Parents, clergy, special guests, faculty, and staff then gathered on our North Campus for the groundbreaking ceremony, featuring remarks from Head of School Sarah Stieglitz and a beautiful performance of “Psalm 23” by our Constantine Chorale, led by Lauren Turner, Dean of Fine Arts.

We are profoundly grateful to Kinder Foundation®, The Brown Foundation, Inc., Sarofim Foundation, Kean Foundation, and The Mafrige Family for their extraordinary generosity and belief in our mission. We are inspired by their gifts and deeply grateful for their partnership.

Glory to God for this beautiful milestone and for the community bringing it to life!

Greetings Everyone!

A quick trip to the EU for shows in Belgium and Romania. The last journey overseas of 2026. Hope to see some friends that are sharing the stages of these festivals with us!

La Izquierda Fest 2026, y’all!

Galveston showed up. Salt in the air, Gulf lines rolling in, and a lineup stacked with style. This is what surf on the Texas coast looks like!

The music didn’t miss. Bands ringing out across Beach Central, dancing in the rain, and sunshine breaking through on day 2 like it was all part of the set.

Congratulations Haley and Ethan!

Lillie Stockseth ’22, a Rice University biosciences alumna and Behavior Change Project Manager at the Houston Zoo, led a behind-the-scenes visit highlighting how intentional design shapes visitor engagement and learning. Drawing on more than four years of experience, Stockseth emphasized the importance of creating spaces that are both engaging for visitors of all ages and educational in meaningful ways. She shared how small adjustments, including displaying animals’ names, have led to measurable differences in how guests interact with exhibits. 🐢

The visit also offered insight into the Zoo’s broader role as a platform for conservation, sparking conversations about how individual actions can support the planet and the species that inhabit it. As a graduate of NSCI 320: Public Science Communication Seminar, Stockseth exemplifies how Rice alumni are applying science communication in real-world settings. 🦒

We look forward to welcoming her back to campus to speak with current students next week! 🐘
