The script readings @femaleeye this year were a phenomenal experience once again for a story nerd like me. 🤓 But to hear my own words and characters come to life through the talents of the incredible actors the festival assembled - live, in a room filled with friends and colleagues and strangers hanging on every line, leaning forward in their seats, laughing at all my carefully crafted punchlines - was BEYOND AMAZING!!! 🤩✨ Were you there? Did it feel electric to you too? ⚡️I could not have hoped for more. My heart was so full. 💖 All my friends who showed up. All the people pitching me storylines. Lining up to chat with me afterwards and saying such kind things. Absolutely unforgettable! 🥰 My thanks go out to the wonderful story editors @hellaciousdee, @allyturcotte0 and @allegra_fulton. And of course my eternal gratitude to @liacavasotto, @leslieanncoles and the #FeFF team.

Day 1 of @canfilmfest was filled with inspiration. ✨ Kicked off with a super-informative masterclass from veteran producers @cliquelauren and @elle_dee_elle. 🤓 Wasn’t planning on sticking around to see their film Sugar Daddy but the trailer was just too compelling. Totally worth it! 💥 The writing, performances and direction were all stellar! 🤩 Got to catch up with @fitzydb and @thetoonsmith too. Can’t wait for Day 2! 🇨🇦🎥

I’m thrilled to share that my book The Last Exiles won the 2022 Trillium Award. It was in great company among all the finalists and I’m shocked and grateful that my book happened to be the one to receive the award. The book was launched during COVID when everything was on zoom, and so this moment of real life recognition and celebration is a great surprise and I’m beaming. The novel took 8-9 years to complete and while much of it was solitary work, it really takes a small village to get a book published and I have many people to thank – starting with my editor @erikacoryn whose vision truly helped shaped the book into its final form. Thank you also to my amazing agent @cforde_litagent and the wonderful team at @parkrowbooks/ @harlequinbooks / @harpercollinsca including Cindy Ma, Rachel Haller, @reederreads, and also @AileenSabanal, Mandy Kane, Saeed Awawdeh and Michel Connor, who have done so much to get this book out into the world – I’m really grateful. Thank you to Rebecca Fisseha, Stacy May Fowles and Michael Redhill, the Trillium 2022 jurors who went through 600+ books to arrive at their decision – Thank you, I’m humbled and grateful.
