The very first Calefax Reed Festival at the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam was unforgettable! The festival featured 12 reed quintets from nine countries alongside international soloists, as well as talks, workshops, masterclasses, a lively instrument market and even a museum.

Together with visitors from all around the world, we celebrated 40 years of the reed quintet—from the days when Calefax was the only one of its kind, to a vibrant global scene with 80+ reed quintets today.

A huge thank-you to everyone who helped create these amazing memories ❤️

👉 Relive it all in the full aftermovie on YouTube!

Contribute to our world premiere! 40 reed quintets from around the world will perform a new piece by @michelvanderaa over the course of 40 days. To make this possible, we have launched a crowdfunding campaign. The aim is to provide all participating ensembles with sheet music and develop a digital stage, which will be open to everyone free of charge. Will you help realise this project?
