This past weekend we traveled down to Griffin, GA to compete in the GBA 12th Annual Doc Holiday Festival with 36 teams!

Here’s how we placed in each category: 1st pork, 14th ribs, and 19th loin!

Which earned us 6th overall! Congratulations to I’ll Be Your Huckleberry (Waylon Waterford) who took home Grand and Blue Smoke (Tommy Blackmon) who won reserve!

A special thank you to Ewa and Jerry who cooked with us this weekend! And Lou who cooked with us to get her master judge. We had the best time! Shout out to Mike Ratterree with Flaming Hogs who won the Cooking the Doc award! It was well deserved!

We are back home from the 4th annual Roaring Camp Bbq Cookoff in Felton double. First off thank you @fireitupevents for putting on another great contest at an awesome location.
It was great to get back out and cook some meat in a field again, and even better to see my bbq family. After shaking off the rust from day 1 I felt day 2 was a better cook. Thanks to my emotional support santa for making the drive up and doing what he does best.

All set up and ready to cook some meat in a field surrounded by some big trees. After a year off, let's see if I can remember how to do this. Good luck to everyone competing this weekend.

The weather forecast calls for patchy smoke.
I think there is a 100% chance of smoke.

What a fun weekend in SC at @festivalofdiscovery . As always the Julie and her staff went above and beyond!! Their hospitality and professionalism of the volunteers make this contest one of the best I have ever attended. Thanks to our team for coming out and busting our butts to put the best product in the judges hands. Thank you to Danny from Bull and Boar for coming up to help out and have fun.

We didn’t get the results we wanted but we pulled a 10th place dessert and 9th place hash.

Thank you to our sponsors and friends that help keep us going!!!

In the least surprising turn of events you can imagine, despite the heat I was grilling yesterday.

We often do fancy things.

Fourth of July we chose good old fashioned burgers.

Ground Waygu.

Spiced bacon.

Pretzel rolls.

Crunchy Breaded and fried jalapeño bits.

Today I awoke dreaming of that burger.
