A group of pilots and cabin staff have gathered in Brisbane to mark 25 years since the grounding of an Aussie aviation icon. Flashback, features Ansett, a great Australian success story until it all collapsed in 2001.

Impressed! Fun photo shoot too, the bourbon follows instructions, didn’t complain, and is really good in the light! Flarebourbon.com

HYB was the second A320-211 delivered to Ansett and was photographed at Toulouse Airport, France.

This Skystar was the first A320-211 series aircraft Airbus delivered to Ansett because HYA had a few cabin fit-out issues. The first commercial flight of VH-HYB was AN12 MEL-SYD on 2 February, 1989.

I think this was pre-departure in Taipei for the overnight hop to Sydney as AN828 TPE-SYD. 17 Flight Attendants on the Boeing 747-300 back in the day. Just 27 years ago, this may have been September 1999.

Sandra Sully broke the news of the 9/11 attacks on Network 10 at approximately 10:46 pm to 10:53 pm AEST on September 11, 2001, just minutes after the first plane hit the World Trade Centre.

A quarter of a century. 25 years ago this evening.

The Spaceships Have Landed.

Just thirty-two years ago, yes, 32, this commercial began appearing on Australian Television Networks in August 1994 to promote the launch of Ansett International and the Boeing 747 Spaceship concept.

On 29 August 1994, Boeing 747-312 VH INJ arrived in Sydney under the command of Captain John Dorward as AN5980 from Singapore for a promotional launch involving crew and Prime Minister Paul Keating before being flown on to Melbourne.

The first Spaceship had landed, and Australia saw the new Ansett Starmark livery designed by Deifenbach Elkins in New York.

Get @reshare_app • @mattjohnbatten It’s 1968…

Passengers boarding an Ansett flight at Essendon Airport — back when it was Melbourne’s main gateway to the world.

Original footage of the airport, the planes, and the city… a completely different Melbourne.

No crowds like today. No big terminals. Just the excitement of flying in a whole different era.

Did you ever fly out of Essendon Airport back in the day? #1960s #Melbourne #TAA #Boeing727 #VHRMR #ANSETTANA ✈️🇦🇺
