Let’s talk details! If you have booked your photographer for enough hours to capture “getting ready” photos (HIGHLY recommend), make sure you prepare your details for them before they arrive. I usually tell my brides to gather all the following items in a box or one corner of the room, so that when the photographer arrives to your getting ready room, they can design your flatlay quickly and easily for these beautiful detail shots…

✨ your wedding stationary (include all envelopes and inserts to add dimension)
✨ any jewelry you will wear that day
✨ sentimental or ceremonial tokens relating to your family or special traditions
✨ a beautiful-looking perfume bottle (even if it’s not what you will wear)
✨ your engagement ring and wedding band, preferably in a box
✨ your spouse-to-be’s ring(s)
✨ your wedding shoes
✨ your bouquet, if the florist has already delivered it
✨ vow books, if you have them
✨ BONUS if you can acquire an accent ribbon to tie in your wedding colors!

Happy first day of summer, friends ☀️

HOT🔥TIP (literally): you can save a pretty penny getting married in the summer in South Florida! While summer is THE season in most other states, venues usually lower their rates in the summer down here. This is due to…well, the heat and the rain. If you are cashing in on the cost savings and your big day is planned for these toasty summer months, below are a few tips for making your wedding experience more enjoyable for you and your guests!

1️⃣ Instead of distributing just your regular ceremony programs, glue a large popsicle stick to them and make them into paper fans 🪭
2️⃣ Say yes to A/C units and fans for outdoor receptions. Some might be slightly unsightly, but in the end you won’t regret this decision after dancing outside for hours in 100-degree weather.
3️⃣ Be prepared with a Plan B for an outdoor wedding in South Florida. Rain is quite fickle down here, so if there is no way to cover your venue spaces with tents, at least have your alternate options in mind when saying “yes” to a venue.
4️⃣ If there are no indoor spaces at your venue, opt for renting a clear tent! You’ll still be able to enjoy the beauty of your venue, but you won’t have to worry about getting soaked.
5️⃣ Serve something cool! An ice cold welcome beverage? Fancy popsicles in coupes during cocktail hour? A @carvelicecream cake with chocolate crunchies instead of a traditional one? Do it.
6️⃣ Dress appropriately. Allow your guests and bridal party to dress light and breezy. Maybe don’t call for black tie and gowns at an outdoor Florida wedding. Let your bridesmaids wear their hair in updos! Outdoor summer weddings are usually on the more casual side, so try to stay in line with these suggestions for maximum comfort for you and your guests 💁🏻‍♀️

Color me happy and grateful for the super fun photo shoot at The Lokomotive in Jupiter with my favorite photographer, Jen Scott, aka FLASHY MAMA. Jen has been my go to for more than 7 years!

And if you're in Jupiter and love coffee combined with a super hip vibe, don't miss The Lokomotive at Alt A1A and Center Street.
