12/12 Day 3

🗓️ Sunday 7th June 2026 🗓️

Two days of intense photography from a field further south to the Ouseburn Valley finally was taking its toll but I mustered in the last bit of energy for the festival closers Militarue Gun and I'm so glad I did as the energy walking through the crowd into the pit was insanely awesome. I nearly didn't make it as another photographer of the official team said they had it covered but then couldn't. Best last minute decision ever 💥

I had never actually heard of Militarie Gun until the day but the energy they and the crowd brought could have blown the roof off the venue. After a bit of uncertainty towards the end of the night it was the perfect way to end the weekend on a high. It was lush seeing the band take their time with the fans that stayed behind too. Yeah I'll take that ⚡

Thank you to David and Hannah for having me be part of the team🙌🏼

🗓️ Sunday 7th June 2026 🗓️

I was so excited to see The Wednesday Flowers on the bill as a few years ago at one of their first ever shows they absolutely blew me away. I went away thinking this group definitely deserve all the flowers they are going to be getting in the future so this is kinda hard to write.

I kept raving about this quintet to those I was working alongside then showtime came and it felt like a lot of waiting around for this headline slot and being quite close to well established headliners nearby for a group still establishing themselves I felt they were let down a bit by the turn out.

Big credit to The Wednesday Flowers though as they played their heart out and interacted to those that turned up like they were closing out the festival and if they keep doing this then I believe they are still destined for big things.

It's great believing in people and giving them these slots on festivals but industry people YOU HAVE TO SHOW UP TOO especially when they are one of your people. Come on give The Wednesday Flowers the biggest bouquets they deserve 💐

Once I realised Dossers were finally coming to my neck of the woods I was so excited as this quintet always bring the vibe but if I'm honest for this performance they were let down.

I was just leaving another venue then was told to hang back but no one said why so I was stuck another 10 mins at the other side of Ouseburn then when I finally got to The Old Coa House the band were in the last few mins of their set cos their set was pushed forward but there was no announcement for this so yeah I feel we were both let down and although frustrating, with Dossers being Dossers I loved those last few minutes 🫶🏼

It was a mad dash back to see The Chisel and it was chaotic in every way.

Which way do you look? Do you keep capturing the action or do you join the chaos. Simply just do both right. Chisel yourself to the core💥

When I saw Stevie What? on the bill it was a set I knew I had to get to as I had met him about 8 months prior and I was so intrigued about his story.

Unfortunately I didn't catch the full set but I'm definitely intrigued for more.

It sure was BIG with Big Break in every way that you sure had to be ready before being ready as that high energy performance had you lose control and I did for sure. I just couldn't keep up with the roaring rawness but I did freeze some moments of their fast paced set🫠

I remember passing another photographer on my way in to this set and he said "good luck" and I was kinda worried but as I entered all I saw was a very dark room with a screen in front of the musicians with amazing visuals. I loved it and managed to get something but I wish I had more than a minute to get more as it was stunning and the music was throbbing in my soul. Next time I'll make sure they are a priority to see.

Afterwards another photographer said they wanted to get the flash and photograph from behind the screen. That definitely would have worked to get the musician but wouldn't that take away what HONESTY are trying to do on a live stage😶‍🌫️

I've read that HONESTY are "not a band in the traditional sense. With four core members - George Mitchell, Matt Peel, Josh Lewis and I'm Marston - and a rotating cast of collaborators which have included musicians and visual artists like Kosi Tyres, Softlizard, Rarelyalways, Florence Shaw and Liam Bailey." So I guess every time you see them it'll always be something different and exciting. I'm so there 💥

With a name like Brown Wimpenny I was intrigued by what this folk collective would bring.

The 11 piece band were stripped backed to 8 and I really can't imagine seeing 11 musicians and their instruments on that stage. It was quite the squeeze but wow the sound was brilliant as well as the stories and the crowd engagement. Brown Wimpenny had them dancing like "little fishies on a little dishy" that was Cobalt. What a brilliant Sunday afternoon vibe 💥

I've become quite accustomed to the sound of the sitar so with sitarist Tommy Kholsa leading this smaller version of Jawari I knew I had to go and experience this set.

Although half the band came to play Marrapalooza and this being my first time witnessing them I didn't feel anything was missing from this performance. It was so mesmerising and the room felt so appreciative that it was a wonderful taster to what else Jawari can bring as a bigger band so yeah keep an eye on this collective of global jazz.

With a name like Cow Town I know I was going to stay at The Cumberland to see them and it seemed they were on the lips of many for the same reason though some already knew how great they were without the curiosity of who or what Cow Town were.

I can't remember what was said exactly but as soon as I was crouched down the front and with the lights quite bright for the band to see me they mentioned something about being photographed. Luckily it was tongue and cheek light-hearted otherwise I might have quickly crawled out of the room but I ended up staying having the time of my life.

Seriously, Cow Town were one of the best things in the one of the half days i attended of Marrapalooza 2026 and they can bring all the cows home to the Ouseburn Valley, or just the North East in general, whenever they choose and I'll be there milking all the cream🥛🐮Sorry not sorry but how else to sing the praises of this awesome trio. I could try jumping over the moon I guess 🌚

I totally forgot that Middle Management are no more and circled Success Pit on my clash finder cos I was like this band could be so cool or very confident in naming themselves so. After realising MM where SP I would say it is a great mix of both and it was so wonderful to stay at the same venue from the previous act to see them again but how they have so much energy so early in the day is beyond me. That sure is success of its own cos I was still trying to wake from a mad day previous and this sure was one of the great wake up calls of the day 💥

I can't remember the last time I saw Glad Town Ghost but I knew they had been playing quite a few gigs across Teeeside recently and felt left out so when I saw them on the bill as one of Sundays openers for the final day of Marrapalooza 2026 I knew how I was starting my day.

A steady set of Sunday stragglers made it for the start of the final day across a variety of Ouseburn venues and I know I made the right choice being at The Cumby. What a lush stripped back set from Dale who was joined by @oui.bee.music from @moss.music.uk . Perfect harmonies to ready us for the day ahead 🫠
