Have you noticed all the FMV Live Action video games being released?

A swath of new releases such as Flavourwork's 'Cuttlefish', and Wales/Good Gate's 'Mia and the Dragon Princess', following 'Ten Dates' Aviary's 'The Gallery' and Half Mermaid's 'Immortality' show FMV games on the rise. And let's not forget Netflix's 25+ interactive films and episodes. Our Creative Director @katedimbleby charts their rise and fall and rise again for DevCom - and why the real golden age of FMV games is just beginning.

We have collaborated with @film_london to programme Film London Labs: The Games Sessions for storytellers who are interested in writing for games.

📅 Monday 23 January - Friday 27 January

This lab aims to help writers understand the process of writing an interactive story and how to translate the language of the games industry. It will also explore the increasingly exciting area where film and games meet to help creatives understand how to bridge the two worlds. It will also ask what the games industry can gain from the story skills of film and TV writers.

We will be hosting a range of diverse and exciting guest speakers who will be leading these sessions. Guest speakers will include:

Leah Muwanga-Magoye, Screenwriter and Narrative Designer
John Lau, Games Designer and Producer
Adam Butcher & Anna Costello, Creative Lead and Senior Creative, Electric Noir Studios
Steve Bailey, Senior Principle Games Analyst, Omdia
Sam Barlow - Writer and Director, Her Story, Immortality
Jack Attridge, Creative Director and Co-Founder, Flavourworks

(Plus more to be announced soon!)

We are very excited to be working with our Film London colleagues on this Lab and hope that both fields will have much to learn from each other.
