𝐄𝐋 𝐂𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐎 𝐎𝐒𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐎 - "𝐂𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐀𝐛𝐚𝐣𝐨" (𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨) There’s something disarming and captivating about the contradictory feelings this new Valencia’s trio brings out in us. On one hand, the wonderful contrast between “Dark Room” and a bunch of tracks that seem made to let the light in, and on the other, the strange clash between a melodic naive-pop sound, which owes a big part of its character to the nostalgic and languid way they deploy their voices, and the no-sweet-or-tame use of the instrumentation: a powerful rhythm section, as driving as it is grounding to the whole thing, and a cranky guitar that at times can scratch away like coarse-grain sandpaper, with its rough edges pushed even further by the tape hiss of a humble four-track, which in the capable hands of long-time scene veteran Néstor Sevillano gives the whole thing a proper DIY feel Released on @flexidiscos, @polzedelamort and @andaluciauberalles Follow the band: @elcuartooscuro_valencia Full demo videon on @tremendogaraje YT chanel ----- Son tan desarmantes como cautivadores los sentimientos de contradicción que nos provoca este nuevo trío valenciano, por un lado el maravilloso contraste entre “El Cuarto Oscuro” y unas pistas que parecen hechas precisamente para dejar entrar la luz, y por el otro el desafiante contrapunto entre un melódico sonido acentuadamente naif-pop, que debe casi todo este carácter al premeditado uso nostálgico y lánguido de sus voces, que choca con el desempeño de unos componentes instrumentales que, por sí mismos y por separado, no nos resultarían nada dóciles ni edulcorados: una base rítmica poderosa y para nada mojigata, que resulta tan conductora como consolidadora de todo el conjunto, y una guitarra arisca, que por momentos puede llegar a raspar como una lija de grano gordo, que encima ve intensificada su naturaleza gracias al tape-hiss de un parco cuatro pistas, que en las hábiles manos de un viejo conocido en la escena como Néstor Sevillano adquiere un profuso carácter DIY Edita @flexidiscos, @polzedelamort y @andaluciauberalles Síguelos @elcuartooscuro_valencia Video de la demo en el canal YT de @tremendogaraje
