i needed a minute. still do. lol.

my baby boy has played his final career basketball game.

his last season was so special. gratefully, he was healthy enough to play every game. as a graduate student he stepped onto a team that was already established and playing well….and still made a huge impact by leading and performing and doing whatever the team needed him to do. along the way he battled injuries, mold in his apartment, the isolation of having only online classes, and being far from home….for the 6th year in a row. and somehow, he still found a way to win, to lead, and to keep learning.

im so emotional that his formal playing days are over, and so eternally grateful for the journey its been - watching him do something he loves, forming friendships for life, and learning all the things sports and this beautiful game can teach us about ourselves and life.

zz, it has been my joy to watch you love something so deeply. to watch you work so hard to be be great. to see you not back down from hardship. to face fears and stay gritty. to love and lead others. and to forge your own way.

i know this is only one part of your basketball journey and one part of your life. and i’ll be rooting for you and your next play, like always. i love you and will forever be team zion. -mama❤️

"Constantly leveling up. Each game, I push to improve the stream — raising the standard of what a Gold broadcast should feel like."

Double majoring in sports communication and film and media, Melody Cook defines what it means to work at a professional level even as a junior undergrad.

Through her Digital Media internship with the @grandrapidsgold, Mel produces the livestreams to either YouTube, ESPN+, or Amazon and creates broadcast assets for the streams.

“Every game I try to incorporate something new because for me enough is never enough.”

Keep raising the standards, Mel @flicks_by_mel! Congratulations!
