Have you experienced Flight of Aloha at the King Kamehameha Hotel in Kona? It was a perfect indoor activity to escape the heat outside on a sunny day! Actually feeling wind, water while being impressed by the beautiful helicopter footage of this place we call home was wonderful. If you are in Kona and have some time, consider Flight of Aloha! And go get ice shave after you’re done!

We had a great, relaxing day yesterday in Old Kailua Town. We started at the amazing Flight of Aloha (think Disney’s Soarin’) and watched a double feature. First was Flight of Aloha showing the gorgeousness that is Hawaii. The second feature was dedicated to Lahaina. This was amazing. We learned about the beautiful town and people of Lahaina. We saw pictures of what happened after the devastating fires in 2023, and learned of their sense of community and resilience after the fires. This was a beautiful and emotional film. Proceeds from this go towards funding the continued efforts in Lahaina. We even had great and informative conversations with our 2 hosts for the film, Hannah and Nailea. They were gems. @flightofaloha We finished our day with the required Shave Ice test of the day and even noticed that where we were walking around was where the Ironman Race starts and finishes. It was a great day. If you are ever on the Big Island, come spend some time and experience the Flight of Aloha!

Third grade, cleared for takeoff ✈️

From physics in the classroom to flight over the islands, our third graders took learning to new heights in Kona. As part of their unit on the science of flight—lift, drag, weight, and thrust—students experienced Flight of Aloha, a fully immersive journey blending cutting-edge technology with Hawaiian storytelling. Motion seats, soaring views, and island-to-island exploration.

The day continued with a picnic at King Kamehaneha Beach and an up-close look at aviation at Mauna Loa Helicopters, where students met helicopter and fixed-wing pilots—including HPA alum Mochi K. ‘22.

Curiosity was high, smiles were everywhere, and hands-on learning truly took flight.
