POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Andre Smith came to Canada as an immigrant and experienced firsthand what it meant to navigate life without financial confidence.

Instead of keeping the lessons to himself, he started teaching financial literacy in his community — and that passion became Flip & Floss, a mission to help the next generation learn, save, invest, and build a better financial future.

Today, that vision has expanded beyond Canada into New York City, Florida, and Jamaica. 🇨🇦🇺🇸🇯🇲

Meet Andre Smith, Founder and CEO of Flip & Floss

Andre Smith is the Founder and CEO of Flip & Floss, a rewards-based, gamified fintech platform that helps parents and students build financial literacy, curb emotional spending, and avoid costly debt. Drawing from his personal journey of overcoming poverty in Spanish Town, Jamaica, and later navigating $50,000 in personal debt after immigrating to Canada, Andre is passionate about empowering families to make smarter financial decisions and create generational wealth.

Recognized as one of the Top 25 Canadian Immigrants (2024) and Entrepreneur of the Year (2024), Andre has become a sought-after speaker on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and the future of money in the age of AI. We caught up with Andre over his favourite Jamaican lunch 🇯🇲

He talked about his journey from Spanish Town to pivoting @flipandfloss, and what it means to build as a Black founder – from pitching at the 2024 Black Innovation Summit to hitting the @elevatetechca stage.

Stories like Andre’s fuel what’s ahead for DMZ founders. Be part of the next chapter at the 2025 Black Innovation Summit on October 30.
