painting at the Lakeside Hall of Fame yesterday, keeping the traditions alive!
Always a good day getting down to the Thames, catching up with good friends, and havin a little time out to just be, & be creative. Quality session jamming alongside friends keeping up traditions & trying new things. 😁
Shouts to those in attendance @dans_handpainted_signs signs @flippingzombies @boast_1_trb , and a few top local artists holding it down as always.

First day off after a relentless week of night shoots... time to reset the brain with some paint and get back to being creative. 🎨💥

Spent the day catching up and painting this wall with Essex legend me old mate cheese on toast @boast_1_trb I have known this guy nearly as long as I have known my parents! Ain't no skool like the old skool! Great to catch up with @brave_arts —haven’t linked up with him in years, so it was brilliant to catch up, talk all things Star Wars, and throw some fresh color on the wall.

Nothing beats swapping the set lights for spray cans to decompress.

SPARK!'s fascinating introduction to collecting Oral Histories!

🗣 Over the past few months, SPARK! has dived into the fascinating world of the Essex Record Office to discover how best to preserve the community stories and voices collected within their two-year Young Cultural Changemakers programme and beyond, to help shape what future generations will understand about life in Chelmsford today.

🎤 Back in May, three SPARK! members and Concrete Canvas: Reimagined Project Manager, Candy Joyce (a.k.a @flippingzombies & @concretecanvaschelmsford) met with the brilliant team at the Essex Record Office to learn all about Oral History training.

😎 As an example project, they explored how best to capture the voices and stories of local artists and creatives connected to the legendary Gas Works site, once one of Essex’s best-known spaces for graffiti and street art culture.

🙏 A huge thank you to the Essex Record Office for helping us discover just how important archives are in preserving the stories, creativity and voices of local people. SPARK! look forward to putting their new knowledge into practice and sharing updates on their Oral History journey soon.👂

👀 The Essex Record Office is a free service that anyone can explore. Visit @essexrecord to find out more. 🤯

After my latest community mural and a question I get asked all the time, I thought I'd share what you actually need before and during painting a mural 🎨✨

Spoiler: it's a lot more than just paint 😂

From sketchbooks and design development to brushes, Posca pens, ladders, patience and a slightly unhinged level of optimism... there's a lot that goes on before a mural comes to life.

If you're an aspiring mural artist, I hope this helps! And if you know someone dreaming of painting murals one day, send this their way or tag them 💛🌈

Materials from @wickes @brewerspaints @posca_uk 🎨🧡🌈
