🍞 In many cultures, guests were welcomed with bread and salt—a symbol of life, nourishment, and respect. Bread was once considered sacred: made slowly, shared intentionally, and deeply valued.

Today, bread has lost that status. Industrial production prioritizes speed and profit, using thermophilic yeast and shortcuts that turn what was once nourishing into something many bodies no longer tolerate.

😋The bread I’m eating here is made using old-world methods: wild airborne yeast and a three-day natural fermentation—a process too slow for industrial scale, where speed replaces biology. Extended fermentation allows enzymes and beneficial microbes to break down gluten and phytic acid, making the bread easier to digest, more bioavailable, and gentler on the gut. For many with gluten sensitivity (not celiac), this kind of bread can be enjoyed comfortably. The ingredients are beautifully simple: flour and salt.

That’s why how bread is made matters. This bread is a reminder: real food isn’t the problem. Industrial food is.
Breaking bread, the way it was always meant to be.

🌱I order real food—bread, butter, cheese, and produce—from @floridafarmdirect https://floridafarmdirect.com/, and the difference is undeniable. The taste, texture, and vitality reflect food grown and prepared with care.

🌎Choose foods from local regenerative farms that support soil health, more nourishing produce, and environmentally sustainable practices.

My farm direct boxes of organic produce and foods came in! I am so excited about it! I wanted to share what came and how we can all try to find more nutrient dense food like this! I am focused on variety, freshly harvested food, and organic … so happy this box came in today!

Life in between feeds. Now my belly is both food & baby, not just food baby these days.

I’m past the point of first trimester cravings & back on with crafting meals that are colorful & primarily plant-based. It’s a fun challenge when I get my @floridafarmdirect CSA produce box to force me to try new ways of preparing meals so our household’s nutritional needs are met.
