Some seasons become unforgettable. For Charlie Keller, 2026 was one of them. In his second summer with the Leesburg Lightning, Charlie was a driving force behind the team’s sixth Florida Collegiate Summer League Championship. Time and time again, he delivered when the Lightning needed him most, whether it was a clutch hit, a towering home run, or simply finding a way to spark the offense. Now, his incredible season has been recognized with one of the league’s highest honors. Congratulations to Charlie Keller, the 2026 Florida Collegiate Summer League Player of the Year. His season was nothing short of remarkable: 31 Games Started .297 Batting Average 29 Hits 9 Home Runs 40 RBIs 26 Runs Scored .977 Fielding Percentage Individual awards are earned through countless hours of work that most people never see. This one is well deserved. Congratulations, Charlie, on an incredible summer. Wishing you all the best this season at Ball State University. I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Four championships. One legacy that reaches far beyond the diamond. Congratulations to Leesburg Lightning Head Coach Rich Billings, the 2026 Florida League Head Coach of the Year. With this season’s championship, Coach Billings now stands as the most decorated head coach in Florida League history with four championships. But championships only tell part of the story. Throughout the summer, I had the opportunity to watch Coach Billings lead this team from behind my camera. You see the intensity during games, the preparation before the first pitch, the conversations with players, and all the work that happens when most people aren’t watching. He isn’t simply preparing these young men to become better baseball players. He’s helping prepare them for what comes after baseball, too. That is the kind of impact that can’t be measured by a scoreboard or counted in a record book. Thank you, Coach Billings, for everything you do for these athletes, the Leesburg Lightning, and the game of baseball. Four-time champion. 2026 Head Coach of the Year. A legacy still being written. Congratulations, Coach. Well deserved.

Sometimes the moments that stick with you have nothing to do with the final score. I first met Jaden during a regular season game between the Leesburg Lightning and the Sanford River Rats. He wasn’t in the lineup that night. Instead, he was in the bullpen catching for the relief pitchers. While I was talking baseball with my friend Mike, Jaden walked over with a smile and asked Mike if he planned on making it to one of his college games this season. We talked for a few minutes before he headed back to the dugout, and that conversation told me everything I needed to know about the kind of person he is. Genuine. Humble. Grateful. These photos are from his at-bat during Game 2 of the Florida Collegiate Summer League Championship Series. It’s easy to celebrate what an athlete does on the field, but it’s just as important to recognize the character they show away from it. Wishing you nothing but success this season, Jaden. Keep working hard, enjoy every opportunity, and thank you for taking a few minutes to make two baseball fans feel like part of the game.

As summer comes to a close, and the start of my senior year begins, I want to reflect on my second summer with the Florida Collegiate Summer League. I was brought back to the FCSL this summer to produce and cohost a brand new initiative, Florida League Extra Innings. In this role I was able to bring my production and hosting knowledge from Hitting the Field Network, and my work with UCF’s ESPN+ pregame show to take a new show from concept, to reality. Not only did my Cohost, Berkleigh Mezzanotte, and myself put together a full show we were proud of every week, but we were able to improve it, and give opportunities to interns on staff to also share the stories of their teams and players throughout the summer. I believe that what Berkleigh and I were able to create this summer will open the door for new opportunities to other young talents in our industry who get to work with the FCSL in the future. This experience truly was invaluable to me. Having the opportunity to get so many reps in, I have learned, is one of the most important ways to succeed in sports. I will be forever grateful to Stefano Foggi and Ryan Murphy of the FCSL for the opportunity to showcase this league in a new way. But now, it’s time to tackle senior year!

Champions. After dropping Game One of the Florida Collegiate Summer League Championship Series, the Leesburg Lightning refused to let their season end. They battled back with a gutsy 13-8 victory in Sanford to force a winner-take-all Game 3, then returned home Monday night and left no doubt. Fueled by relentless pitching, timely hitting, and a team that never stopped believing in one another, the Lightning defeated the Sanford River Rats 7-3 at Pat Thomas Stadium to capture the 2026 Florida Collegiate Summer League Championship. Then came the moments every player dreams about. The final out. The celebration. Water flying through the air. The championship trophy lifted high. Teammates embracing after months of hard work finally paid off. Championships aren’t won in a single inning. They’re earned through every practice, every setback, every comeback, and every player willing to give everything they have for the teammate beside them. Congratulations to the 2026 Florida Collegiate Summer League Champion Leesburg Lightning. What a season.

Some moments change the energy of a game. As the sunset painted the sky over Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium, the crack of the bat sent a line drive into left field. Two runners crossed the plate, the Leesburg Lightning dugout erupted, and the crowd came alive. That momentum never faded. The Lightning answered with one big inning after another, defeating the Sanford River Rats 13-8 to even the Florida Collegiate Summer League Championship Series and force a winner-take-all Game 3. Tomorrow, the series returns home to Pat Thomas Stadium. One game. One champion. Let’s go Lightning!
