One of the things I shared with my mom and friends earlier this year, is how badly I wanted to go back east to visit. I needed to go back home, and I finally did! It's been 3 years since I've been back home to Philly and 4 since I've been back to NYC, my 2nd home. I missed my family and friends. I missed familiar faces and treasured instantly connecting with new ones. I felt loved on from the time I stepped foot back in my old apt. in Bed-Stuy! 'Preciate you @ediescloset_ for the warm welcome home 🤎

It felt so good to see the smiling faces of my former neighbors and be greeted with, "You're back!" I felt blessed stepping off the train in Philly, and being welcomed by my mom's gorgeous face and her warm embrace. It was long overdue. I even missed the sweltering humidity that only the east coast can provide. How could I be mad? I said I wanted a true New York summer and that's what I got...all 100 degrees of it 🥵

Every one of those sweaty and blistering moments was worth it because I got to spend it with my people.

My last day there was bittersweet. I was, and I am so grateful for the time I spent while I was home. However, it's always hard to say, "See ya later."

As I was riding in my Uber to the airport, down Throop Ave., I saw a sign on the side of a church that read "2024: The year of renewing, rejoicing, and reconnecting."

That pretty much summed up my trip back east as well as my year thus far.

All I know is I'm gonna try my best to not allow another 3 or 4 years to pass before I make my next trip home 🫶🏾🤎
