1:15:34 HALF MARATHON PR 🏃‍♂️🔥

6 months ago, I walked away from the Boston Marathon knowing there was more in me.

Went back to the drawing board and refocused on consistent training, discipline, and trusting the process. Yesterday was a reminder that the work pays off.

Couldn’t have done it without the people in my corner. My loved ones, family, friends, training partners, and new coaches with @wesfly.trained @coachbayless & @coachsmulders who have helped push me to another level 🤝

What made yesterday’s @longbeachmarathon even better was seeing so many people in my circle have incredible races. @flosswjoss 🤍crushed a new PR, my bros threw down some massive PRs, and our other friends crossed the finish line of their FIRST half marathons!🏅 Also shoutout the real MVPs our pit crews and supporters👏👏

Proud of the progress, but we’re nowhere near finished.

Back to work. Honolulu Marathon in December is next 💪

Great morning racing a 5K in Long Beach with a former UCSB teammate🤝 Didn’t hit the sub-16 min time I was chasing, but we’re still coming for that mark.

Still proud of the effort heading into the Long Beach Half Marathon 3 weeks away @longbeachmarathon

Just two latina girls from the same catholic high school with big dreams that came true 🫶🏼🥹

When we got into UCLA in 2016, it felt surreal. 2 weeks into Chem 14A we both failed our first exam 💀, and I remember telling Joss, “I’m dropping and taking remedial chem instead 😅.” I believed taking one step back could mean two steps forward. I never expected her to follow me, but she did — and from that moment on, we became a unit.

If you knew me at UCLA, you knew Joss ♥️. We took classes together, survived endless nights at Powell & YRL, pulled our first all-nighter together, and somehow made it to graduation side by side.

The funny part is dentistry was never originally her plan. She dragged me to an optometry meeting once because she was convinced that was her path… meanwhile I sat there bored out of my mind & spent the next 30 minutes explaining why I could never do it. 😭 (plus we both suck at physics)

But deep down, I always knew she’d become an incredible dentist. Her compassion, charisma, work ethic, and love for people made it so obvious to me. Somewhere during senior year — probably after hearing me talk nonstop about dentistry — she decided to take the leap too. 🤎

And now here we are. Two latinas from the 818 who are now dentistas 🦷🥹

I’m beyond proud of you, Joss. I know you’re going to pave your own path in this beautiful profession and make such a wonderful impact on our community.
